Question Which non-WRX offers best bang for buck?

I now realize the wrx is a dream at this point. To make a new impreza a reality, I need to opt for one of the other models. Which non-wrx version is the best buy and why? thanx

Tom

Go to http://www.spdusa.com and hunt around for the various bits of info Mike has there. Also look at the recommended cars he suggests for buildup.

Other than that, look at a MY00 or MY01 (essentially the same car) for best stock power. And look at a MY99 if you are planning to do the Tek II / Turbo thing as the MY99 has a lower compression ratio.

It really depends on which of the RS's are still out there. Though there should be a lot as people trade in for WRXs.

I forgot to mention that MY00 and MY01 have a LSD rear diff, on which many people place a huge importance. And for $1000 cost, why wouldn't you.

I would also recomend a old-age impreza.
People on here know everything about those cars. There is a ton of parts proven to work.
Plus yu can get a sedan or a coupe.
