OMGHi2U I'm going to buy the stray cats a present on my lunch today! [lots of words]

Oh yes. Going to be stopping by the NAPA store down the road, and picking up some Anti-Freeze

I know, I know, it is the wrong thing to do, I've had the conversation with a dozen people, but this morning was the last straw, and the camels back exploded and killed three people and injured fourteen. Went out to my car this morning like any other morning to go to work, and damnit! Muddy cat prints on my hood and windsheild. I'll wash the car again when I get home today then. Go around to the drivers side of the car, and ohgodwhatthe****?! Scratches. Not one, but about six. Going from the hood, down the quarterpanel. ALL the way down the quarterpanel. Looks like the cat tried to jump on the hood, slipped, and tried to use it's claws to hold on

First thing that came to mind, was break something. So I like an idiot, I threw my bagel against the side of our monster trash can. Damnit, there goes my bagel now
I walk around the rest of my car to inspect it, and it looks like the cats decided to have a god damn dance on the top of my car. The entire roof is covered in muddy paw prints
Get to the rear, my spoiler is covered in prints.. they walked back and forth across the top of the spoiler. I know the STi wing is big and can provide shelter for a family of four, but you don't walk on top of it
I probably wouldn't have minded that, if they walked across it once, but there were LOTS of prints, going back and forth on the top of the spoiler. Oh it is ON.
Next thing that came to mind? Break something. So I threw my sandwich on the ground and let out a screaching "MOTHER ****ER," as I both realized not only do I have no breakfast now, I also have no lunch. And my car is covered in paw prints, and I have scratches on my car from them. Oh it is ****ing ON, and I'm going to win.

Now, onto why I am going to be anti-freezing them. Like I said, I've had this conversation with quite a few people, and they all called me an ass and a jerk for thinking about doing it, and I realized "yeah, that is wrong," and never did it. So I turned to the Internet Knights in their shining armor to come aide me in my time of need!

OOPS - HIT ENTER AND IT POSTED! lol

Anyway, I found human society links, talked to them, and all that jive. I have to catch the cats, and bring them down to them. I called animal control, and they won't do anything about them since they are just stray cats. I mention how my neighbor tried to catch them, and one of them bit her, and she ended up having to get all them rabies shots. So, I did what any good person would do, and try to catch them. Three nights, and nothing. Three nights, three different things in the trap, and nothing. And they were out there, I heard them fighting outside my window
So now, I sit here and think to myself "Yes, anti-freezing them is evil and really REALLY bad..." and now after this, I think "whats wrong? Me killing a couple cats with poison, or CATS DESTROYING MY 18 THOUSAND DOLLAR CAR?" HMMMMM......

These arn't even cute cats either.. they are mangy, mean, evil bastard cats. One of them has half a tail 'cause it got ripped off in a fight with another cat or something. Another one of the cats is missing spots of fur all over, another one spats at you and gets ready to attack you if you see it in the yard... and I'm sick of it. Yes, I have a car cover, but couldn't put it on last night since the car was wet. Yes, the cats ripped a hole in my car cover too. Aces! 50 dollars well spent!!
They totally scratched my old Legacy's trunk to all hell and back, and I do NOT want that happening to my WRX. As it is, I'm going to have to find a way to buff out those god damn scratches this afternoon. If they don't come out, the anti-freeze is going out this evening.

I guess what I'm getting at, is what the hell would you guys do in this situation? Yes, we have a garage, but they manage to get their way IN the garage when the door is closed. They turned it into their personal litter box and it's disgusting. My mom has to use the garage, 'cause whenever it rains her car leaks and it gets all wet on the inside.
I really don't want to do this to these cats, but it's like I have no other choice. When I get home, I'll see how well I can cover those scratches up...

uggg.. what a crappy morning... is today Monday?

edit 2 - I also tried that fox urine stuff. Didn't work.

*cough*
back home i had that problem i would just shoot them....nobody is gonna adopt any of them and chances are theyll be adopting too many to care for them all so i just kill em
poision...hmmmm when it comes to poisioning you should think twice maybe even three
times....reason being is..of course theyll die but not the poision in them..worms will come and eat away...then the birds will eat the worms...change reaction..so just be careful when deciding what to do specially if you got lil kids in your area who will think
its OoZe from the (ninja turtles) and start playing with it thinking theyll be a ninja turtle etc etc...my recommendation is a bb gun or pellet gun NOT a 12gauge or highpower rifle ..hehe ......like all things we do safety first

best regards

you sir, have my backing.
I wouldn't put it in a bowl, just make like your adding some to your car and let it pour all over the driveway...

um, doesn't "killing kittens" mean something else?
might not want to be doing that outside in the driveway...

razor edit: oh, how well a shot are ya?

thats how ole dirty bastard died.

advice from the interweb

Cat repellent sprays and gels are available from many plant nurseries, pet stores, and some hardware stores. You can also try making up your own repellent using a number of scents that cats dislike. We suggest trying the following:-
A mix of ground black pepper & chili
Scatter citrus peel (oranges & lemons) around the garden
Place pine cones around near garden borders
Plant geraniums, marigolds and petunias, cats apparently dislike those plants
Grow spiky plants near areas you want to keep cats from (base of trees that attract birds)

if that doesn't work...plan B

Yes, kill the cats that don't know any better. I'm going to go shoot the baby in the waiting room that won't stop screaming it's head off. I'm nominating you for the first person to go into the Soylent Green.

Why not throw out some no kill traps and take them to the SPCA. At least if they're unadoptable, they'll be put down humanely instead of poisoned or shot.

I think a good .45 to the back of the head is just as "Humane" as 3 months in a cage followed by a "instant" injection. Just my two cents.

Because discharging a firearm in public when not in immediate defense of life became legal when exactly ? Unadoptable animals (due to disease, temperment, etc.) are put down immediately, and most other animals are put down within a month (often 2 weeks) if not adopted unless they are at a no-kill shelter.

Questioning the logic of posting this in a public forum. "Hey everybody, I intend to commit a crime. Just thought y'all should know."

Do it and don't tell anyone, dumbass!

They're strays, just put some tuna in a have-a-heart trap, bring em to the shelter where they can be humanely euthanized. Killing them with anit-freeze is horrible, and besides, it's a slower death, and you have no guarantee that they won't expire under your car, or in your garage. Cats tend to hide when injured, and they like to hide in tiny in-accesible places. Do you really want that to happen when it's going to be 85-90 and humid? Just imagine the stench! That alone would keep me from feeding them antifreeze.

Borrow a friends pitbull for a day or two. What about a fake coyote? Try putting catfood out somewhere else not near your car. If you can get them into a routine of going somewhere else maybe it will be somebody else's problem.

Now that i think about it I have some strange scratches on my hood that might be from cats doing the same thing.

At least cats have good taste in cars.

Well... We had a stray cat problem around my house... Got a huge "Have-A-Heart" trap to catch them.. Our cat got in there and was dead when we found it.. Coudn't have been in there for more than a few hrs...
So maybe they will die in the have-a-heart traps too

Right unfortunately if he does go through with killing them he can in fact get in trouble...

cruelty to animals even stray cats is a crime! They are not rodents, they are domesticated animals!

I won't be afraid to say I'd be one of the first to turn you in if in fact I found that you poisoned them.

If you do this I hope it keeps you up a night, and antifreeze will not kill them overnight so you will still have to problem for weeks even months as their liver shuts down and they slowly die! While pissing the death piss all over your yard/garage/car/etc.

Just don't do it please! Find another way!

I tried the "Have-A-Heart" traps, didn't work. My neighbor tried them, and that's when she got bit.

After re-reading what I posted, I really did over-react. Then again, coming out and seeing your car scratched up and crap isn't the first thing you want to see in the morning though. After finding some bagels at work in the kitchen, eating something and drinking some Snapple Pink Lemonade (note: best damn drink ever, very slightly higher than Snapple Apple), I'm a lot calmer.

I thought about the other animals in the area, and no, I'm not going to be buying anti-freeze on my break. In the midst of my ranting, I forgot my neighbor has a dog (female dog named Pete... what?), and my other neighbor has a dog that often gets into our backyard.

I didn't think about putting the traps on the roof of the car though
It might work, but the cat would probably spaz out and roll the cage off the car causing more damage
Whenever I'm out washing my car, if I see one of the little bastards sneaking around, I spray them hoping it'll keep them away.. but it seems to make them come around MORE

I'm going to try runnah's idea of going to a pet store and finding some cat repelent stuff. We tried human hair, didn't work. Fox urine, didn't work. Traps, didn't work. Pine cones, didn't work. Hopefully the pet store will have some advice other than calling the human society and trapping them, 'cause obviously these little devil spawns are having none of that.

At least reading this thread and some of the replies made me remember why I never did follow through with the anti-freeze

And yes, I have a cat myself which I've had since she was 5 weeks old. She was born into a stray litter, and where my sister-in-law works they took them in, and I brought one home. So yes I do like cats, but these ones are ugly and all beat up, so I don't see anyone wanting to adopt them. They are really aggressive, so they'd end up getting put down... meh..
