Nice...we probably should have moved the discussion to NASIOC in the first place! Much better forum IMO.

Default Planning a meet here soon! Need Feedback

What would you guys think about having a meet here in the next month or so? Either late september early october. Does anyone have any thoughts on a dates?

This is what i was thinking...

Subie Fest in Kansas-WE DONT NEED NO STINKING CALIFORNIA!

Lets Accomplish the Following-
  • The biggest meet we have had yet. Yes, bigger than the Office Max Meet.
  • Longer. Lets do something exciting. How about convoying (Thanks Alex) to a lake (to be decided) and camping out overnight. We will be able to line up the cars real nice and take some good photos with them and a pretty background. Plus there would be fishing, eating, and all the other fun perks that go with camping.
  • People-Bring your friends, family, whoever you want. Just as long as they are in a SUBARU.
  • Organization-This will need to be organized, i dont mind taking the the reigns on this one. I just will need everyones imput so that this comes together perfect. Planning will need to be especially particular to the convoy proccess. Check out unabombers FAQ on how to Caravan/Convoy correctly here http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...php?p=12959519 sounds silly, but makes sense.
Let me know what your thoughts are on this idea, and spread the word to others that you know (With Subies) to get on this page and add their imput.

Thanks Guys

Dustin

PS-where the hell is Cory?!?

Sounds like fun. With the weather getting cooler the coming weeks, it should be nice out. Who's bringing the food? rofl.

Talking

Hey Everyone!! I think Dustin's idea (papafrito) is a good one! When it comes to the food, I think it would be best if everyone brought some stuff out. We could post those kind of specifics on here as the event got closer...

I should have my car by then so ill bring it out!!

GOOD! I was thinking if we plan on a lake that's maybe about an hour/ hour and a half away. That might make the ride down there alot of fun. Just a thought.

are you getting a new one or is it being worked on?

if its a new one, are you new to subarus or have you owned one before?

also, papafrito: i seem to remember your car at the office max meet, but i dont remember meeting you...

is anybody interested in just an informal get together? grab something to eat or something at someplace accomodating to a large group with people coming/going. maybe a chinese buffet? just throwing that out there. im pretty much free weekends anymore since i quit my night job.

Default Possible Other Idea

It was mentioned that maybe depending on how many people come and other factors of a possible rally type timed race to the lake. With possible awards and all that jazz at the end of it. Although some of the lakes i know have some really good open roads to them there is always the possibillity of cops waiting to write some tickets.

In no way do i condone street racing of any kind. But there is another type of rally that isnt based on speeding. This rally can be seen on one of the epidsodes of periodicreview.com ( i cant remember which one, but its on one of them) . This one incorporates a type good sense of direction and timing. You are given a certain amount of time to get to a certain area (ie the lake) then you must take certain roads at ceratin speed limits to get to that point. When you reach that point the closest one to the time that they are supposed to arrive wins. Sounds silly, but looks pretty cool.

Really i could care less about how we get there, i am more interested in food and fishing.

Anybody else have any other ideas?
