Yes, no more 4EAT, only CVT, which should be a huge improvement.
SOA Blog has stated that the Forester XT manual wasn't selling enough. This was confirmed by other members that are Subaru sales reps that claimed the Forester XT manuals wouldn't leave the lots for months at a time. It's unfortunate for us enthusiasts that so many people don't care about such things. A 6-speed manual Forester XT would be the hotness for sure. I'm really curious to see how many people will buy a Forester XT FA20DIT engine and drop it in the BRZ/FR-S? I know I want to try! The low-mounting of the turbo makes it kind of iffy for me, though... the cars are already so low to the ground. |

Nissan blew it by not bringing the turbo motor in the 240sx, Mazda hit it big with the twin turbo RX-7 (is it the FD?), , Toyota hit it big with the turbo Supra, and Hyundai's Genesis coupe has done well. Subaru and Toyota can't make the mistake of missing out on building this car. I'd think they could build it and still keep the price between $26-28k with a couple package options. I would agree, except that the BRZ is a very, very low-volume vehicle. Projected 6k a year and people STILL are on waiting lists for them? And then throwing a turbo-charged variant for substantially more money on top of that? Marketing, sure, but financially, it just doesn't make sense. SOA Blog has stated that they only made the BRZ because Toyota had already commissioned the GT-86/FR-S and Subaru wanted us to have something, too, because they are so proud of what they engineered.
Add to that the fact that the creator of the GT-86 recently interviewed about how a turbocharged variant isn't approved by his design philosophy... People want a LOT of things. That doesn't mean they always get it. |

So XT is CVt only? Lame! Should be a 5 or 6 spd auto. Not a fan of the front or the add on tacky ground effects either. Wife has an 09 and other than the 4spd I love it.

Thankfully Subaru knows it doesn't matter if someone like you finds it lame since the majority will buy CVT and automatics when it comes to the Subaru Forester XT trims.

thumbs up for new design!!! looks way better and as i forester owner i still think the 04 05 is the best looking but this looks really good!! but not a fan of loosing the engine size. i thought it was dumb when they took the 257 out and gave the 06+ the 255.. i feel like they keep down stepping the power capabilities of these sleeper.. maybe a 2.0 in the NAs and at least the 255 in the XT!! i am excited to see what the new X-mode is all about... ! but good work subaru!! looks great!

Will have to see it in person. I like the current model for a secondary wife + kids type of car. The OP photo looks like the old Fozzie, but the other pics show a lot more.

CVT = Motorboat feeling
Subaru really needs to work on their transmissions. |

Don't assume the 2014 Subaru Forester CVT transmission is as dull as your brain. You're the only one with a motorboat feeling. ;D |

I know. Especially for someone with your ignorance.
It's fortunate people like you don't matter as much to the car industry anymore because your opinions are obviously ignorant of the fact that things can change and be different. Just because you've had bad experiences with CVT's in the past doesn't mean the one in the 2014 Subaru Forester is automatically the same. But I don't need to tell you that because you're far too ignorant to grasp that concept. |

Thats good to know. I guess, I thought it would be pretty messy. Although most of the oil probably just drains out.?
