Default Electrical Formulas, Basic Electrical information.

In a car we tend to assume between 12 to 14.4 volts as normal
with that in mind...
Here are the basic Ohm's Law calculations...

-The key to the letters-
E = Volts (this is the force of electrons, also known as Pressure)
I = Amps (this is the quanty of electrons, also known as Current)
P = Watts also known as Power (product of Volts X Amps)
R = Ohms (unit of resistance)

to find Amps (I)
I = E/R
I = P/E
I = Sq.Root of P/R

to find Watts (P)
P = E X I
P = R X (I^2) <----I is squared (IxI)
P = (E^2) / R <----E is sq. then divide by R

to find Restance (R)
R = E/I
R = P/ (I^2) <----I is squared
R = (E^2) / P <----E is sq. then divide by P

to find Voltage (E)
E = R X I
E = P/I
E = Sq.Root of PXR (P times R. Then Sq.root the total)

terms

DC = Direct Current

AC =Alternating Current

FAQ

Q. I just put in seats with out airbags in my WRX, what size resistor do I need to make the air bag light shut off.
A. 3.3 ohms.

Q: What wires do I need to hook up to a starter button?
A: In the ignition harness (under steering column) you need the black one and the black/yellow. Crossing these two with the key in the "ON" position will crank the starter. Cutting the black/yellow one will disable starting with the key.

Q: I blew a fuse, can I replace it with a different rated fuse?
A: No, always replace fuses with the same size/rating.

Q: My parking lights wont shut off
A: Check and make sure the switch on the top of the steering colum is in the off position.
