Default 2017 WRX BSD/RCTA Disabled

Hi!

I have had a 2017 WRX Sport (in Canada, equivalent to Premium in the US, I believe). Currently at 6300km and have had the car since May 2017. Love the vehicle.

Recently, encountered a weird issue where the BSD/RCTA Disabled light has come on and won't clear. I've tried pushing the button on/off but nothing has resolved the issue. Although, it once cleared on its own while driving (and worked as expected) only to come back on about 15 minutes later.

Is this a known issue? From the reading I've done, it doesn't appear to be an issue many people have. The only thing I've done in terms of electrical things is add a CompuStar remote start (for the cold Canadian winters). Is there a possibility this could have affected it? If I press the BSD/RCTA on/off button, the side mirror LEDs light up as per normal when pushing the button to turn the system "on". However, the system remains disabled.

Would appreciate some opinions and comments.

I had read about a few incidents and I believe with Canadian cars as well. I mean a few.

I would simply take it to a dealership and have it diagnosed as it is a relatively new car.

Other than the remote-start, is the car modified? Lowered? Different wheels/tires?

Guess I'll have to plan for a trip to the dealer. Only have the remote start installed and 17" winter wheels/tires on. Stock suspension/height.

Remove the remote start and see if it fixes it.

Any ice up there yet? Snow/ice/mud buildup on the car will cause issues.

Any accidents?

No accidents. Usually keep the vehicle clean through the winter (with the exception of normal dirt build up). Car doesn’t build up with mud or snow.

Took the car to the dealer and they said they couldn’t find anything. They said the remote starter was likely the culprit.

Took the car to the place that installed the remote starter. They completely disconnected the starter and checked if the issue persisted - it did.

Now not sure what to do about this. Any ideas?

Just curious: automatic or manual?

If there is a feed-back into a circuit, and that circuit could be isolated, then perhaps a diode could be installed to stop it?

Default New mirrors

I just installed APR GT3 mirrors on my 17 STI. I love the mirrors but I do not love the bsd light. Is there a way to disable this system removing the light. I realize this is purely a cosmetic request and will be met with hilarious comments such as , “put a sticker over the light”, but I hate those extra lights. I also realize this inquiry is not exactly what this thread is about but I cannot find anything related to my issue and did not want to start another thread if at all possible.

The system reset in a few hours - FYI. Haven't had an issue since.

Yours just happened to reset automatically? Mine still hasn't worked. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't find the issue. Said they picked up no codes related to the system. Told me I would have to remove the entire remote starter system and bring it back for them to check (which I don't think would cause issues).

Is there anything I can ask the dealer to do specifically while the car is still under warranty?

I had a similar issue with mine. I was told I would have to remove the 921 led
back-up lights. I refused. It had to be re-calibrated, with a Snap-On tablet plugged into the OBD2 port.
