I was going to try this on my rs because I didn't want to put in led's like some people had done. Thanks for the right up and to those of you who are looking for the gauge cluster I will probably do that as well. I'll try and post pics if I manage to get around to doing it sometime soon.

Well actually, the gauge cluster on my02 has bulbs in the back of the acutal cluster that can be changed out like the HVAC unit. When I get home from my VAC, I will post the pics of the back of my cluster.

That would be easy to do.

I called three radio shack's in my area and none of them had the condoms, so I decided to just paint the bulbs as well. Except I painted them blue, not red. The displays are significantly darker, but are still readable, and I think they look good.

Make sure that you get the ACRYLIC type of paint and not the enamel. I grabbed the enamel by mistake and when I got the hvac put back together it blocks out almost all the light and it smelled like something was going to catch on fire.

Yeah maybe I should get one of those chromed ricer fire extiguishers. I scraped the paint off this evening and re-did them and they are a dim white but I painted them blue?

How can I describe when I go to Radio Shack what I am looking for ?
What kind of bulb or cover/condom do I need? And how many of them(volt, size)?
Maybe if I found enough I can buy it and mail it to you guys.

It will be a yellowish white, not a hyper white like the RX8

I'm thinking of replacing mine with LEDs, but it looks like I won't be able to replace the radio with LEDs. So, which is the better alternative? Paint them? (sharpie? ) Or would it be better to buy some bulb condoms. The main thing is, unless I can get the bulb condoms locally, they rape me on shipping to Canada. I checked on parts express, for 4 bucks worth of condoms, they will charge me 11 bucks USD, just to ship it here, not worth it IMO. Any help is very much appreciated!

Default condoms

Let me know where to get them. I'm sure shipping wouldn't be that much. (I work for the Post Office in Florida.)

For a sweet looking dash I think the extra cash for shipping is definately worth it! Painting may be less expensive... but after a while it burns off the bulbs and turns kinda orange... I did this mod to my accord, and after about 3 years it looked pretty crappy... I would go with the bulb "condoms"

OK, I'll either look for something local, or ship it to family in the states.

what size of bulb "condoms" do you need to order for this project? the partsexpress.com site has two different sizes...
