I used my dremel to make a notch very carefully.

oh so I have no choice but to mod the fuse holder a bit so this will fit into the socket.. Hmm..

what if the relay itself was shaved so the wire would recess into it a bit allowing proper clearance? I was thinking of this also..

thanks for the reply.

The 04 fit fine.

Glad that this mod works on the 2006.

I've done this mod yesterday on my 2006 wagon (2.5i) and it's working perfectly !

I bent the leg on the relay (as shown in the above picture) soldered a wire to it and got an "add a fuse" and stuck it into the "illumination fuse" 10A.

When I arm&disarm my car, the fog lights flash.. when I use my remote car starter, the fog's are on when the car's running.

Works great ! although I did have to cut into my fuse box to make the relay slip back into its holder, but I'd prefer this than cutting my oem wires =)

Thanks guys!

So I guess 06 needs to trim fuse box to fit relay after relay spade leg is bent?

Correct. The only way I was able to re-insert the relay was by cutting a small portion of the fuse holder to allow proper clearance for the bent spade leg/wire to pass through.. took a couple of minutes to trim.

Don't know if anyone else had this problem on the 06?

This mod's working perfectly so far.

thanks!

Question

Will this work on an 03? the reason i ask is because the Schematic blow is just like the one in my FSM for a 03 same color wires the only thing different is the numbering/nameing of the plugs,

Front fog light Relay = [B48] on my FSM & on Zalthras Schematic Front fog light Relay = [B225]

But its the same wiring Schematic

any way i think i'm going to do it this way on my 03 i have looked over the Schematics & i see no reason that it will not work . i'l get back to you in a day or two & tell every one if it works

What the original poster posted basically is the relay half of the positive side of the mod (red text). Doing this only does allow the fogs to come on without having headlights or parking lights on, but the switch indicator does not indicate the same. You should do the same to the switch side of the red/green wire.

Foglights going off when you flash/turnon high beams is caused by the ground side (blue text). Ground the yellow/blue wire and you will have fogs stay on even if you flash/turnon high beams.

Yes it should work. If you want to be absolutely sure, you can pm me the schematic for your 2003 and I can tell you exactly what you need to do.

i plan to do the mod some time tomorrow or this weekend but just need to figure out where to ground to keep the fogs on.

Yep.. check my post. Within this thread, you'll see someone using a "add a fuse" basically you remove your left knee panel under the dash, you'll need to get to your fuse box.

Remove the fog light relay (4th from the top?? anyone confirm? I can't remember),

Then bend the leg (as show somewhere within this thread), solder a wire to that leg, then attach it to the add a fuse wire.

Put the relay back in (I had to trim my fuse box to allow the relay to slip back into the holder).

I personally put the 'add a fuse' into the illumination fuse (10A) and when I turn on my corners, the fogs turn on.

To get the headlights to stop turning on when you release the hand brake, you need to disable the daytime driving relay (behind the glove box.. takes 5 seconds)

So now I have control on my HID's while driving. I use my fogs as my daytimes, and I can turn on the headlights whenever I feel like it.. this saves many hours of use on those HID bulbs.

hope this helps

There is no blue wire in my picture, he's refering to the blue text, and blue line added into the schematic. Basically you ground the [Yellow/blue] wire to solve the foglight/highbeam switching.

electrical n00b here, so this basically lets you turn on and off the fog lights with the factory switch so you DON'T have to have the headlights on, correct?
Didn't really see a specific description of the mod in the first post...

Yes.

And if you run the the rea/green wire to a + 12 ACC you dont have to have the parking lights on to have fogs.

After studying the wiring diagram with this same goal in mind, this is the solution I came up with. But I should note that it IS possible to mess up the high-beam circuit if you cut the RG wire too close to the High-Beam Relay. There are other connections not shown in this diagram. I never found them. They're in the harness somewhere. If you follow the instructions about cutting near the switch and the Fog Light Relay you'll be OK.

SiFuSpEc- How did you do the rear fog? I thought that was only doable on the 02-03's?

You have a DIY or something for this? Pics? I'm interested in this mod. Is this only on one side or both?
