Default Trying to decide about an exhaust...decisions....decisions

I got a 09 2.5i. I am looking get an exhaust amongst other things... Still deciding between all my options. any opinions?

What I was thinking of was to either

A) get a prebuilt catback...not sure by who yet? any opinons on that?
B) just get an Axelback and have the midpipe custom done at shop nearby (Which they said would only be around $100)

C) get a full exhaust custom done....<-----Might be a little extreme? atleast for N/A

Also trying to decide between weather mendrel would make that much of a difference than the steel piping...I know they will last longer but any better benefits besides that ?

thanks!

The whole point of mendrel is so that the piping diameter doesn't decrease in bends.

i think you may have mandrel confused with a material, but it's actually the type of bends that pipe has. mandrel bends are smooth and constant diameter, without any ripples or wrinkles.

Stainless steel will be more expensive than mild steel, but will last longer and almost never corrode

Well as long as you dont get crush bends ( the rippled looking ones) Stretch and mandrel are perfectly OK for a stock EJ253. No header exists so you will have to go all custom anyway.

Getting a header made will be much cheaper if you get it done with a group ( 5 people or so) because you can split the cost.

Or you can modify the existing options to fit your car.

My car has the exhaust manifold deosn't it? I know they do not make headers for my car but what would I have to do if I wanted to get equal length headers? I think I maybe confusing some things haha

I could not buy equal length headers to have put into my car?

So would you buy just the muffler and have the rest built or buy one already built? (Catback is what I am talking about :P )

Best sound in my opinion is UEL headers, hiflow cat pipe and mild(ie:not can) axleback. keep the stock resonator. I had this setup on my 07 2.5i and it sounded GREAT

I have an 09 2.5i so it would have EL heads? now im a bit confused haha

so you would just get the high flow cat and an axel back and not even touch the mid pipes?

I wouldn't even touch the cat. I have an axleback and the only other exhaust mod I want to do is get ELs

O I see...So if I just got an axel back I can have it hooked up to my stock mid pipe? But did you know if my car has the EL heads already?

it has EL headers, not heads. The exhaust ports are actually different lengths, but nothing can be done about that.

Just so the OP knows, these are two distinct and different things.
