Question '01 Legacy GT owners...how do you like your cars?

How do you like your GT's? What other cars did you consider and why did you choose the legacy?

What did you pay? I am trying to figure how much room I have to negogiate.

Thanks,

MVB

Go to www.edmunds.com no guessing necessary. They have the actual dealer cost on there...

PS... 00 GT, and it's great...

Around Christmas I was looking at the GT vs. Mazda MPV, Chrysler Mini van, Ford Escape, Ford Focus wagon. All-in-all I was looking to buy a "family" car the wife would be driving most days to haul the kids around in. I decided on the Soob because of the safty ratings, AWD, the styling, the handling, and the gas milage. For us this was the best bang for the buck. If I could have afforded it I would have bought an Audi A6 Quatto Wagon 2.7 T. But we could not afford a $42,000 car.
I ended up buying a Legacy L. Same engine, and brakes as the GT. Over $3,000 cheaper than the GT. I can buy alot of upgrades for $3000. I paid $20,000 + some change. Has a couple of options but not alot.
For a drivable car $20,000 + 17"new wheels and tires($1,000), + Whiteline Adj. Sway bar($150) + Whiteline springs and KYB struts ($600) + Ganzflow CAI($100) + new brake pads ($75) + SS brake lines ($100) + Brullen SS cat-back ($450) Grand Total $22,475 and that car would Destroy ANY OEM factory GT, not to mention you would still be $500 cheaper!
Granted, you wouldn't have the sun roofs, nor the power seat, or the plastic wood grain dash, or the plastic "chrome" grill.
Go with what you can afford, keeping in mind that even with the GT you WILL be bitten by the Must Modify It bug.
Good Luck.

I bought my 2000 Legacy GT in December and love it. I had been considering the A4 and the Passat but they were more than the Legacy plus my mother's having problems with her Passat. I also had considered the 2.5RS, but decided against it because of the size, just a tad too small for me. For overall fit-n-finish, price and equipment, I decided on the GT. I picked mine up on Dec 30, and recieved a sweeeet deal, it was "end of year sale" and I got my GT for ~$21k.

I have a 2001 GT , got it for 22,400 Best to go for the Basic GT unless you need to pay the 2500 more for the leather in the limited. Plus I ordered mine with no spoiler and no pinstripes ( saved me about 425) and I think it looks way better with out that crap. The Car is great, really fun

I have a 2000 GT, but close enough. I love it and I wouldn't have anything else. I think the final price before tax title etc was about 22600 and I have spoiler, floormats, and moonroof air deflector.

I test drove the V-6 Accord (too plain), two used Audi A4's one turbo one not (good car but I avoided used), One Passat (I hate VWs), Volvo S40 turbo(premimum gas, a tad expensive, but a good car), Maxima SE (Wow, great car, hate the styling tho and premium gas), 98 Legacy GT wagon (used). Also test drove a 2000 Legacy GT wagon (fell in love with the car, ordered a sedan)

If I had to rank:
1. 2000 GT
2. Maxima
3. (tie) Audi A4
3. (tie) Volvo S40
5. 98 GT
6. Accord V-6
492. Passat (I really dont like VW)

Thumbs up

Absolutly love my Legacy GT, but you must add the Whiteline Rear Swaybar to eliminate what I would refer to as excessive body roll. One Cop actually declined to give me a ticket after pulling me over. He thought it was a BMW, after realizing it was a Subie, he said "just be carfull, have a good day".
Gotta like that!

I have a 2001 GT Limited, I got ever extra there was except the battery heater... I paid 24000.00 for mine. I just love this car, and so does my wife. Got the windows tinted and next on the list is a new muffler and midpipe or springs... Still have not decided....
