Cool Auto X:Street Mod class in 2013

Been a lot talk about next season already.

Street Mod class is shaping up to be a really interesting battle.

Henry and I will be returning to the class. Rakaz has installed his Meth kit in his STI and that will automatically place him there. Paul Carter is building his Miata into a bonafide turbo monster and will be placed there as well. Clint has his EVO monster ready to go, should he choose to come out of retirement. Verbal commitments by Backflip Jeff, Dustin and Jordan. Sean Joy is building his own car up to join the party. Steve Thomas is moving up as well.

This is surely going to be the toughest class and certain to produce many Fast time of the day awards.

Reminds me of a song from my youth….

Henry, Yeah, you said the same thing last year, so I hold out hope you'll be there. It was a great season long battle with you.

FYI, your car was moved into ASP this past year, so that puts you in direct class competition with Ryan's GTR. So, take your licks and make your choice wisely.

For sure. Some shy away from such things but I welcome this. The more intense the competition, the harder I try, the more I ramp up my effort, investment and strategy.

Consistent performances, the reliability of your machine and keeping it in top running condition (i.e. tires) week in and week out, is going to be the key to pulling off this championship.

A lot of these mentioned guys building cars through the winter***8230;.the end result of those builds have to be learned to be driven to their limits and many can never quite take their mods to that extreme limit. They end up with an un-driveable or an over built car for our short courses. Many times they are looking for those parts to make up the difference in driver mod and end up painting themselves into a corner with the direction they've gone. Anyone who has modified a car will tell you it is a learning curve. Hard to soar when you've taken a plunge out of the nest and never learned to first flap your wings. Some may perform well for a single race***8230;but then miss events due to logistics, or have a nasty mechanical that keeps them down. Some may be good in the dry but horrible in the wet. Tuning for each event is definitely going to come into play this year. Some may have unforeseen circumstances arise and take the championship out of reach. It will be a good battle for sure.

Regardless, who ever does win it, will surely have EARNED it.
