cars101.com is showing that it's an option for all the 5 doors. Just get them from one of the vendors (invoice pricing, wooo).

Tonneau luggage cargo area cover, retractable is standard on all but the BASE model.

Odd, I ordered them for my Sport. Dealer had not problems with it. If you are in the North East, that may explain it.

My original post was incorrect. It is Standard for all models, except the base one.

Contact the dealer. He may still be able to add them to your order, and if so, you will save the installation cost. I added a few items to my initial order after the fact and they were accepted.

Or install it yourself. Looks like it will take around 10 min tops.

Does the moonroof slide open all the way? I found that some auto makers differentiate between moonroof (only tilts open) and sunroof (slides all the way open)

Thanks, but I can handle installation of the seat protectors -_- I only really need them if I buy the proverbial Christmas puppy.

I needed your guys opinion

I'm most likely going to pick up a Sport Limited. I may just wait for them to come on to the lot or pre-order one. I want to get the following exterior accessories:

A- strake kit
B- aero splash guards, front
D- front underspoiler
J- rear spoiler

Would it be cheaper if I pre-ordered these to be installed by factory or is it considered a dealer installed accessory only? Or would I be fine just buying an Impreza off the lot and adding these on after (buying parts from another dealer). I think I could do the Install my self, but would the body parts come pre-painted from the factory? I have seen a couple of the install guides from the Subaru site linked here

I hope its an easy install. I can't imagine it being difficult but I would hate to mess something like that up on a new car.

If you preorder the parts, they'll be installed @ the factory / port (depending on the part) so you won't have any installation labor charges.

Depending on your negotiation skills, you can have the dealer buy the parts @ invoice, and install them at zero cost or they'll charge you full price and bill you for the install time.

I'm not sure about the pre painted part. Do all the Sports have same 2nd color in their 2 tone?

No, they do have the standard one color cars, as well, in the Sport

It will be cheaper to include these items with your order as there will not be any labor charges and then you are also assured that the "pros" are installing them. The body parts are pre-painted as there are separate part number for each color. As another member indicated, you should be able to add these items at Invoice which will save you additional costs. All told, I would not recommend the after delivery purchase and self installed option as it is too easy to just order and will cost you a lost less.

Edit: The Aero splash guards (front) also include the Aero rear guards - It's one kit.

The BL2 combination (black over dark gray) has a different two tone then all the others. As stated previously, there are also mono-color options available.

I'm old and lazy. If I can purchase it installed at less than the MSRP, then it's a total Win Win for me. Just getting too old, I guess. But, I know what you are talking about.

Aren't the only factory installed options the NAV and the Moonroof, for the limited trim, and AWP for the other trim levels? I'm thinking that everything else is dealer installed (which means DIY install too).

All the accessories such as body kits, moldings, rear view mirrors, hood protectors, cross bars (not the roof rails), mats, even the sport grill and the remote start all have free installation manual pdfs on Subaru Technical Website. I've seen a few websites that sell these type of products and all are official Subaru products. You can buy them directly and do the install yourself.

This the stuff you can get with $500 incentive. (Right?) If it wasn't, then SOA would have already asked us what accessories we wanted installed for the $500 instead of sending us the "thank you email" after the fact.

The moonroof, the AWP isn't really a bolt on option since you have to cut a hole in the roof or take the windshield off for the defrosters. The NAV seems like it would be a bolt on but I guess not. Everything else is literally plug it or screw it in place.. The remote engine start does need a diagnostic tool but minus that you, you just plug all the connections and your done.

Options MUST be installed when the car is built. Accessories, with a few exceptions, are installed at the "Port" or at the dealer(after delivery). If accessories are requested on a special order, they are installed at the port without any additional labor costs. Now having said that, there really is a different Invoice/MSRP between the two options. Having gone though the process for two cars, the best and cheapest route is to include all desirable options in the initial order. I excluded the Sub-woofer (as it was not available from SOA "Port") and will apply my incentive "bucks" towards that. Fortunately, my dealer is using the "port Invoice price + Labor" so it will essentially cost me the Nebraska Sales tax + a couple of bucks. I am also going to replace the tires with Conti DWS(different subject - Yoko's are horrible IMHO for wet, snow, and Ice).

Ok, so I'm better off just pre-ordering with all add on body parts.

Since you mentioned it, I was planning on getting the Conti DWS after the OE tires were worn out. What's your opinion on the Conti Extreme Contact Winter Tires? My plan was to get two sets of tires and wheels, but if the Conti DWS are good all year 'round I might just do that.

I have about 10/11k miles on the DWS tires on my '08 OBS and can't see any wear yet. They are excellent in the dry, rain, snow, and ice elements. They do have a bit softer side wall, and for me that is OK; and because of this some might say they are bit less responsive (I'm a somewhat "spirited" driver, even though I'm an "old fart"). On the OEM tire that came with the '08 OBS, I could feel every dime that I drove over. The DWS tires provide a much better daily drive and cushion pot holes very well. No need for two sets as the DWS will serve you well in all seasons - just be sure to check out the wear bars if you do a ton of highway mileage to insure that it is ok for the next winter.

I am trying to get the dealer to give me a $60 credit per tire for the replacements. I'll have to pay for the DWS, balance, etc... I think that we are close to settling that issue; but, will have to wait to see what is finalized after deliver of my new Sport.

Sorry, misread the tires - The winter tires may or may not be overkill depending on where you live. The DWS provide similar benefits IF you are not totally Snow/Ice bound.

Hmm, I wonder if I should look into this. I have a set of 18s with the Conti DWS that I planned on running in the summer, but I may want the stock wheels to have these tires too. Currently my baja and impreza are running the older Contis and these have been great winter tires...without being only winter tires that is.
