Ending up going to the dealer for the gasket as the online schematics are incomplete. For future reference, to anyone searching, 2015+ WRX CVT uses a 10mm hex bit for the transmission fill plug and the corresponding gasket part # is 803918060.

Added a set of WHITE HIGH OUTPUT 360° 26 LED 194
Really like the flat connects - thick and sturdy - helps prevent the usual problem of the c-light bulbs minimally flickering
because the connect is not too good after a bunch of driving - well... not with these.
Match the rest of my leds nicely (I purchased the 6k version). Happy with the purchase

Car is doing great. Loving it more each time I drive it

Holding up well. As I always say, cooling this high torque CVT is critical. Now over 50k miles I did do a flush of CVT fluid as seen in previous posts and now have amsoil cvt fluid - very happy with it.

An early present for Bellipotens birthday from my brother Perscitus

3D MAXpider front and rear mats
Very pleased with quality and rigidity of these mats compared to weathertech.
Now time will tell how they hold up (keeping weathertechs in storage just in case)
But based on reviews from family and friends I think these will stay on for a while.

The bottom portion has a gripping material (almost like vlecro) so the mats stay put. I also like the covers for the hinges on the driver side.
Comfy and good top material with more coverage than weathertechs.

Logo is bright but does not bother me. Easy blackout if needed. Ill keep it as is.

Wish they made a trunk liner for 2015+ WRX/STI
(they will release soon for Tesla and other vehicles so hopefully we can get them as well...
I would swap my trunk liner from weathertech for 3D Maxpider)

They look good. I'm not too happy with the Weathertech, the outer driver side is warped and allows crud down in there. And they are quite "slippery" to my heel, would prefer a bit of traction such as carpet provides.

Hi Belli, Do you have any recommendations with respect to the CVT stalling? What things can we do to control the response of the low RPMs? I think a lot of folks could use some insight on how and what we can do with aftermarket parts to reduce this kind of stress on the transmission.

So as I'm looking at http://www.subispeed.com/2015-subaru...r#.XF4vh1xKhGN ..

Do you know if there's a way to get CVT temperature and CVT fluid degradation onto two of those gauges?

Also, what would you do for a third gauge?

You can obtain CVT temps however this would require a physical temp gauge along the transmission lines adding a new possible point of failure/leak. I know a few people who have done that and actually have been without problems. But I would not add the deterrioration on a physical gauge. We still do not know much about that percentage and to have it continuously there would be rather a waste. CVT temp makes more sense.

If you do not have a cobb accesaport then I personally would prefer my method via one of the Android apps and an obd reader like obdlink mx. You have plenty of information on top of just CVT temps and deterioration rate. So apps like btssm or torque pro with the activeobd plugin.

Hope this helps. PM me to further discuss or if you have other questions.

Well the CVT does have its usual rubber band effect and will sometimes feel as if it trying to figure things out when you step on it to pass through the intersection before the light changes. A remedy for this is a tune.

Now low RPM or stalling tends to occur when the AC is on and you are stopped on a red light, that has to do with the engine. I never heard much of the CVT stalling - most of the time it's more to do with it slipping or not engaging. This will occur mostly from poor CVT fluid that has been burnt due to constant overheating. Once CVT fluid deteriorates to this level the CVT will not function properly and will begin to damage. Leaky transmission seals or increased times when switching from D to N to R etc, are some of the first problems. Others experience rmp jumps without acceleration.

To prevent a lot of CVT problems I say you have to cool these transmissions. Especially when adding power. A CVT cooler is a very good investment. Next is to monitor CVT temps in order to see where your transmission lives and if anything is causing it to overheat more. I would also consider a flush at 40-50k miles for tuned cars, some suggest 90k if stock. I myself performed a flush not long ago with amsoilccvt CVT fluid - very pleased with it.

So in general tune the car for a better response (2018/2019 have already an improved stock tune), make sure you have the latest TCU update (especially if you have a 2015 like I do), cool the CVT, monitor CVT temps, eventually at 40-50k perform a CVT fluid flush of tuned.

Last but not least I tend to drive in paddle mode for best response in the city etc. For cruising or heavy traffic I switch to full auto.

If you need to discuss this more please pm me.

More fun shots in NYC. Car is doing well - continues to put smiles on my face.

I'm amazed how little throttle I have to add to let this car fly. Now when I do open it
up... man... Spock appears and shifts me to warp 10

Definitely liking the 3D MAXpider mats over weathertech.

Coming up in Spring - upgraged rotors and pads.

Nice shots! Beautiful car! I'm sincerely glad you're loving the car and enjoy driving it.

After following you for quite a while and also adding some power mods to my CVT WRX, I'm just not feeling it still. I don't what it is, but I can't seem to fall in love w/ this car as I was hoping. I'll give it another year or two, but its days may be numbered.

Look forward to seeing more of your build though!

Torque really opened up with tuning. I would suggest more time in paddle mode with S#. All the best

Will do...as soon as the weather starts to allow it. I don't have the numbers you do. About 278whp/275wtq. Way more conservative. The issue really seems to be the 'off-the-line' feel. It just feels laggy and I'm sure that's more about the CVT than anything. I'll see if I can coax more smiles out of it somehow. Thanks.

So, with all the experience you've had on the CVT platform, what's your take on FMIC vs TMIC?

I am glad your CVT is doing alright with the mods you have.

As a backup solution, do you know if the CVT bell housing is the same as the one in 6-speed. So that in case of a failure you can convert to manual ($4-5k for STI tranny vs 7-8k for CVT)?

Personally I would not do fmic. I have seen people running it successfully but with it a down pipe. You will have to increase the boost on the fmic and thus generate more problems as CVT has continuous boost. I rather have a good top mount like grimmspeed etc. As always cool the CVT with a cooler when modding.
