Default Subaru STI Type RA is coming!

The cup holders are no longer on the armrest but instead on the back side of the center console.

That was something i noticed while checking it out after i brought it home.

Wonder if they record sales for these cars. Would love to know if they sell out or the ridiculous dealer markup keeps a few on lots.

So glad my dealer worked with me on the price.

Already found some goon on Facebook trying to sell RA wheels.

But the picture quality appears to be from 2003 so I somehow doubt he actually has them.

Seems so stupid to separate them from the car. Good luck selling it without the original wheels.

But aside from Gold they are not really that special, Previous Lexus ISF uses these rims also...

maybe it's the same guy you saw on FB.... $4,500 OBO for the wheels and tires. listing looks sketchy.

the RA really would have been better off with 18's.

I just picked up a set of the RA wheels for sale! They are on there way. Not the ones for $4,500. That seems incredibly high.

Should be the same as other STI's. Nothing about the RA makes it any faster for autocross.

I don't think that's true. The handling is improved enough to make a difference.

You must be new here, and obviously don't know SCCA autocross rules. Please try again.

I don't even autox and even I know that an RA isn't separated enough to class it elsewhere. It's factory equipped changes and tune. Come on, bro.

Just look at the classifications of the S2000 vs the S2000 CR... Similar and Arguably fewer differences than between the STI and STI Type RA. There's definitely a case to classify the STI Type RA as AS.

That exact example was why I asked the question. If they did class it in AS I would be concerned with whether or not it would be remotely competitive.

Took a glance at the comments... went about as expected... a $50k Subaru is faster than a $30k Ford if the roads are covered in ice.

The STI currently isn't competitive in BS. If it was, then yes there might be case to move the RA to AS.

The spoiler and carbon roof are the only major differences and they wont matter for autocross. The rear tire delete (which you take out for autox anyway) is the major weight change. The spring rate and other suspension changes aren't enough to make the car faster. And the wheel sizes are not better either with the RA.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification.
