Default 2014 WRX Bluetooth - Auto connect issue?

Curious to see if anyone is having this problem too? I have to manually tell my phone to connect to the car, every time.

I found a thread with the same problem, but it's from 2011, would have hoped that 3 years later, they'd fix the problem:

I've only ever had the one device hooked up to the car. My old jeep with an aftermarket cheap kenwood head unit connected to the same phone just fine the second the car would start. And my phone also automatically connects to my portable bluetooth speaker no problems.

So I don't think it's my phone...

I'm a computer technician, so electronics are not exactly foreign to me...so I'm fairly sure I set it up correctly? lol. Wondering if maybe there's an auto connect setting I missed or something. Cause I've gone hours, driving in the car, with both the stereo set to bluetooth and the phone bluetooth radio on, and they never connect.
