Gah! I love all things shiny and metallic. I'd want one of those blocks just to look at and occasionally fondle.

75***37; into chips??

isn't there a way to melt it down and create a new block, instead of selling it to recycling for cheap?

Also no other, more efficient way to make your products?

I was leadman building an automated sawing system that cut forging blanks off billets up to 14" dia.

The thing used a 42" dia. saw blade running at 4800 rpm!

Yes, no, and no, most likely.

Everybody sees what CNC machines are capable of and goes "ooh!Cool!" The waste is the downside.

Melting it down is what the recyclers, ultimately, will do. It's not something you can do in your shop.

You should've seen my eyes when I was standing at the operators station, right next to the cut tunnel, when we had a programming error start feeding the bar pusher in mid-cut!

The blade flexed into the steel walls of the tunnel and showered sparks everywhere. Fortunately, I was able to hit the e-stop befor any real damage was done. The loss of even one of the carbides would've meant the loss of a $5k+ blade.
