![]() I have attached copies of the emails I've sent to Subaru about this and they're starting an investigation. I bought an '06 STI at the beginning of February from Wentworth Chevrolet/Subaru in Portland. It was Subaru Certified Pre-Owned on their 152 inspection and covered until 100k miles or 6 years, whichever comes first.
The problem, however, is that the vehicle has TONS of problems that have been popping up over the last few weeks the more I investigate. It seems that they have blatantly overlookd multiple things on the 152 point checklist and the car shouldn't have been certified at all. The list of problems is in the emails below. What gives?? Anybody know if there's anything I can do about this? I love the car, but paying what I pay, I can't afford to have the thing in the shop for a week at a time getting warranty work after warranty work done. They misrepresented the car, it shouldn't have EVER been certified. Hopefully Subaru offers me a very fair solution, because I am extremely upset over this. Once again, I love the car, but I don't love how the deceived me. The emails are below for those of you that want to view my correspondence with Subaru's support people and investigation staff. My newest email is at the top, so scroll to the bottom to read them in order. There is a huge list of concerns listed in my newest email. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The dealership I purchased the vehicle from is Wentworth Chevrolet and Subaru in Portland, WA. The recent hub work I've already had done was by Hanson Motors in Olympia, WA. My vin is XXXX Here is a list of problems: - Check engine light came on as SOON as I left the dealership. Emissions leak, a mechanic told me it seemed to just have been "reset" and not fixed. The cruise control light is blinking - AIR BAG light is on, it is not functioning and the passenger airbag won't engage. Also simply "Reset" by the dealership. - There is a dent on the door jamb on the driver's side which they hid from me until I purchased the vehicle. - There is a major paint blemish on the bumper that was also hidden by dirt until I purchased it (offered to be fixed by dealership, after I confronted the manager about it and was visibly upset about it) - The rear view mirror has been hastily reattached to my windshield and was done incorrectly (offered to be fixed by dealership, after I confronted the manager about it and was visibly upset about it) - The rear cup holder is broken, only one cup holder of the two that should be back there is present, and it does not fold into and out of it's storage bay correctly. - The front right hub was replaced after my car was kept in the shop for a week, and I had to take it in after having the car for less than two weeks - It seems the differential has problems, the car hops when cornering and it seems like - Power steering is failing - I found out one of the main pulleys is an aftermarket pulley of smaller diameter than the stock one, causing the motor to be underdriven. These are all problems that arose after I left the dealership the night I bought the car. This is not a mere coincidence. I feel like they misrepresented the vehicle by making it "Subaru Certified" knowing I could go in and get work done for free and thinking I would be happy. I am very displeased with this and feel like the car should never have been certified to begin with! There are TONS of problems with it and it's obvious now after having some Subaru enthusiasts and mechanics look it over that it has been abused, and the problems were hidden to sell the car. Moreover, the interior and exterior problems are things blatantly listed on the checklist to make it certified, and seem to have been blatantly overlooked by the dealership. I don't know what the procedure is, but prompt updates and keeping me in the loop would be appreciated. Thank you, Brenden Clerget- Show quoted text - On Mon, Mar 2, 2009 at 12:04 PM, <[email protected]> wrote ![]() Thank you for contacting Subaru of America. I am sorry that your e-mail was prompted due to concerns with your vehicle. I would like to investigate your concerns in more detail but need your Vehicle Identification Number and dealership name to do so. Please respond to this message with the requested information in order that I can investigate your concerns. Best Wishes, Fred Calhoun Customer/Dealer Services [THREAD ID:1-2XAQAN] -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] Sent: 3/2/2009 07:10:47 AM To: [email protected] Subject: (SR #:1-176860315) Dealer Relations I purchased a 2006 STi from a dealership in Oregon. It was Subaru Preowned Certified, and I purchased the extended warranty through them. I was reading up on the certification process, and it seems as though some of the stuff that should have been checked was NOT checked. My car is having MULTIPLE issues and is about to go back to MY dealer for the second time in three weeks, although I bought it less than a month ago. If I could speak with someone that could answer my concerns about my vehicle and the things I'm having to fix, and whether or not they were in the wrong for saying it was certified and okay to sell to me as a certified vehicle despite all these problems, I would appreciate it.
