![]() I have CarPlay in my 2018 STi (aftermarket). Yes, it's cool. It's a seamless integration of your phone with the car. And if you're like me, all your music is streamed from your phone (either network streaming or from music loaded on the phone). BUT... NO WAYis it worth $2K. Especially when there are plenty of great solutions available that will give you much better sound in addition to CarPlay at a fraction (<33%) of the cost. Will it look exactly like the OEM head unit, no. But some of the options look pretty nice. I like the look of the Seicane Android head unit except for one thing... it's not flush with the dash. But there are a lot of other double DIN head units that support Apple CarPlay to choose from. In my opinion, aftermarket is the way to go.

![]() I agree there are a lot of good aftermarket options. Which one did you get? Many seem really nice, but no one seems to be the clear winner, especially for wireless.
From what I have read: Alpine 107 is missing a lot of features and has a poor screen. Alpine 207 adds the features but loses wireless. Pioneer W4400NEX looks nice but has a resistive screen. Pioneer W8400 adds the capacitive screen, but costs $1200 and has nav which is not needed with carplay. None of them have a physical volume knob which I am also worried I would miss (I know a Sony unit does, but I don't think it is Maestro RR compatible). |

I had a resistant touch screen HU on my 08 WRX almost 10 years ago and THAT was definitely different than the capacitive screens that came afterward. However, modern resistive ones are still very responsive to touch, so I wouldn't discount them at all. Also, don't worry about the volume knob thing. With SWC, you'll be using that instead and never miss the lack of knob. |

![]() About time, Sony! They generally have even better pricing than the others, so glad to see them enter the lineup!

![]() I bought a new 2019 WRX/STi Limited August 1st. The Apple CarPlay does not work at all. I have tried it with an iPhone 5S and an iPhone X, neither one will work.
I can stream audio from the iPhone through the USB port, but the head unit never activates the apple car play. Instead it recognizes the phones as an iPod. The icon for Apple CarPlay stays grayed out. However, the Android Auto works like a champ. No issues with that one. Subaru has been chasing their tails for weeks and have not been able to resolve this issue. I spent some time searching the internet (and these forums) for solutions or similar issues, but I failed to find anything. Anyone have any ideas if there is anything I can do to get this POS to work? Sorry if I am hijacking the thread. |

- I have tried both USB ports with a multitude of cables/iPhones combinations. The symptoms are all the same. - I activated the hidden menu (Hold home and press in the right knob twice). I found no helpful settings/information there. - Dealer reset the HU multiple ways and it still won't work. - I plugged my iPhone5S/cable into a 2018 Impreza Sport HU and the Apple CarPlay fired up like it should. It seems to me this is a software issue with the HU. I would be interested to know if anyone has one of these HUs which is working. I would like to compare firmware revisions. |

![]() The dealer really needs to get on the ball and address this for you. They should have immediately ordered a new HU after they were unsuccessful at getting CarPlay to work. This is no different than the A/C or heat not working in the car.

![]() Maybe they gave me the wrong part number since it kind of doesn't make sense for the new part number to be lower than the old. Also, Canada may have different part numbers or use different parts all together. You mentioned that you don't have telematic units and we do in the US. Sorry haven't showed your part number to the part guy. But appreciate the reply. Hoping that someone out there is bold enough (and with enough cash

I just wish someone could take apart theirs and find a part number on the unit or snap a detailed pic of the connections on the back. Anyone willing to tear apart their brand new car? ![]() |

I am starting hear that there my be a issue with all the “high end” head units with Apple CarPlay. I have the 2019 limited sti with Harmon Kardon. The problem is definitely in the software on the head unit. Anyone have one of these head units and it is working, please post the firmware version. I am very interested. |

I've had to do that once in a while with the our Impreza since the last iOS update because of the new security "feature" that prevents USB access without permission. Sometimes I don't have to unlock it, but other times I've had to and it won't even charge unless I unlock it. |

![]() Anyone installed the MVH-2400NEX in a wrx? I've got a 2018 premium, and am looking to retain steering wheel controls, backup cam, and usb. Is this a huge pain in the ass to do, or even possible? I fig I can retain controls with Maestro, but not sure about the usb and backup camera. Also, ss the maestro easy to set up? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

![]() I was in a couple of days ago for an oil filter and tried to run the part number with no luck. It was a new parts guy and he didn't know what he was doing with the system. I just gave up and will have to try again another time.

![]() I have a 2018 WRX limited with HK. I definitely would like CarPlay because of the upgrade to use the Nav searching from my phone. I can’t believe how bad Nav searching for locations is on most cars these days. I’d also like an easier way to remove the Nav lockout while in motion so my passenger can look up directions. I don’t like the wiring solution that’s used for the impreza’s.
So I’m subscribing to see if someone can get it to work. I kinda think that any HK head unit will swap in for any other HK head unit of the same generation. It’s unfortunate people haven’t cracked the car like they have in Ford. I came from a Fusion and you could reprogram a lot of the car’s BCM function |
