Hey guys, just got back from Buschur Racing in Ohio getting tuned by Al. It took a long ass time to get tuned, I got booted off the dyno 30 minutes in for no apparent reason and had to wait 3 hours, but in the end it turned out fine. My car feels great now, so much better than before. It was about 30-45 minutes of dyno time and around an hour of road tuning. The boost solenoid was kind of tricky to tune apparently so most of the time road tuning was just tuning the boost. My car has much more power to redline and I don't feel it falling off as much. Off boost power is greatly improved and spool is identical or better than my td-04! I am hitting 15psi by 2,500 in 4th!
Here are my power mods: VF-29 (from the JDM ver. 5 STi Type-RA) Ported and polished by me. Helix catted downpipe Stromung 3" cat-back STi TMIC Perrin Y-pipe Walbro 255 stock 565cc injectors Green panel filter Ingersoll-Rand Boost solenoid Power was like 250 whp and 312 wtq on Buschur's Mustang dyno that reads super-low, although that doesn't really matter, it is fast a **** and I'm happy He didn't spend much time dynoing, trying to get numbers. This graph wasn't the highest or anything it was just the one he printed. link if you can't see that well.. http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL864.../272378244.jpg Pic of the car for fun

Sorry about the confusion with your car. The solinoid you are using is super sensitive and has very quick response. I have found that they NEED to be dialed in on the road as the slight variation between real road loading and the dyno is enough to result in a 2 -3 psi variation on the road. What I like to do with cars like yours is get the general timing and a.f curces dialed in on the dyno and then go out on the road for a one hour testing and adjusting session in 4th gear and as much of 5th gear as I can stand to get the boost perfect and then do the fine adjustment on the timing to make sure the car is 100% knock free and happy. The scene at Buschur Rcaing was total KAOS with a BR 350 Evo IX project from begining to end being shot for D Sport magazine so things many not have been explaned as well as they might have. In the end I was very please with how your boost control system functioned - you obviously did you home work selecting the parts and installing it and it worked like a charm - it just took a lot of time to get it dialed in 100%. Enjoy the car and dont forget to send me some data logs when you get down to Texas so I can see how the car is running on the gas and heat down there. Al |

if you don't mind me asking why did you go with the vf29 w/ your 2.5L?
I was thinking of going that route with my 2.0....that turbo seems kind of small for your 2.5 but I'm sure it feels awesome on the road. |

it does seem like a fast spooling low end kind of turbo to me - I will say that on the road it was a real nice feeling turbo.
It does not have the top end of a VF34 for example but it does have a super fast spool up and response. With turbos it usually winds up[ being a balancing between top end and low end power - this unit is more towards the low end Last edited by Dyno Flash; 08-19-2007 at 03:41 PM. |

Holy diesel truck torque! Like I said in PMs when I sold you this turbo, I loved it on the 2.0. Glad to hear you're happy with it.
