2013 2.5 anyone?
I'm thinking about getting one, curious what everyone thinks about the new model. What fuel economy are your getting in real world driving?

I actually just leased one on Thursday. I got the 2.5i, black with tan cloth interior for a 3 year lease. I really wanted the black on black but it would've been a month+ wait and I couldn't wait any longer, the one I got was bad enough with a 1-2 week wait. Hopefully it'll come before Christmas. I went to the dealership with the intention of getting an Impreza hatchback but test drove the Legacy and fell in love, especially because the price for leasing either was about the same. Definitely test drive one, I can't wait to finally pick mine up!

My girlfriend has one, we both love the car. My mom has a 2012 with the 3.6 and the power of that is nice, but the 2.5 is really nice as well. She averages about 28-29mpg with hers!

Kind of funny though. Way back in 1999 Subaru went the opposite direction on the Impreza 2.5RS (the car that started it all as far as this website goes). Back then Subaru went from a DOHC 2.5 L to the SOHC "Phase II" 2.5 L engine. The change was reported as reducing internal friction and thus resulting in a small bump in peak torque, but with much better midrange torque. The difference was noticeable to those who test drove both. Now Subaru is switching back from SOHC to DOHC. Last edited by Scottie; 01-08-2013 at 02:41 PM. |

The likely reason for going back to DOHC is it's easier to mess with individual cam timing for emissions, economy & performance.

Hi I posted some pics and info in a thread in the FAQ/newbie forum about my 2013 Legacy! "Newbie here with some questions" I think I called it.
Anyways, long story short: it's a great car. Runs and drives really smooth with the CVT. It has a very mature feel to it. It has waaaaay more room than the Impreza. The back seat is huge. Now a couple cons: it's not a fast car by any means. - especially if you get the CVT. Off the line is very slow. You can get the rpms up pretty high, but the cvt makes the rpms stay in that range as long as you're stepping on the gas pedal which is not good for the car. I test drove the manual and didn't like the feel of the clutch (that is due to me being used to my Honda clutch with 156,000 miles). The gas mileage isn't as good as advertised in the real world. I drive mostly on the freeway 45 miles round trip 5 days a week. I'm getting 25.5 - 27.6 mpg). There is no freakin way I'll ever get the advertised 32, even driving like a grandma. Anyways - hope this helps |

I just bought a 13 Legacy back in mid December, I personally love it. I am in mostly stop and go traffic but still avg around 26-27 mpg.
