Hmm... I have to disagree here.

The R6 for autox is useless in anything under a surface temp of 110*F, even then they will not come to life until the 3rd or 4th run.

If you're learning, new to the sport, or just want them to last, then the R6 would be the better choice.

Otherwise, the A6 is the quickest but the v710 last the longest. For *SP, it's either A6 or v710. R6s would not be competitive at anything other than regional events.

Call him, don't bother emailing until after you speak to him over the phone. Great guy, great prices, etc. He may have a hard time finding the A6s in that size though, I was successful using him 3 of the 5 times I purchased A6s.

I know many National Champs that use oem brakes and pads. Drivers like Josh Sortor (STX Champ) and Gary Thomason (ASP and SS Champ). Save your money for the best tires and lighter wheels! I DID have Rotoro big brakes on my WRX ... and had other top drivers tell me that they felt "the best," but believe me, it didn't make me any faster.
Did you even read my post?

I'm wondering which brake/radiator upgrades are legal and which aren't.

Ha! No worries. So you like the Rotora brake kit for this application (track/autoX/DD)? What about for rears? I was wondering if I could do the Subaru 2 pot rears given that you have to use the Kartboy relocating bracket AFAIK.

The Rotoro's were on my long ago sold WRX ... oem Miata brakes are excellent ... with steel hoses and the proper pads.

I feel like better brakes might help once in a while, but it's few and far between. I coulda used something better at wendover. I was standing on the pedal with no hope of getting to abs for the turnaround. I had to brake SUPER early to end up where I wanted to be.

What pads do you use? I've been very happy with R4-S but will likely switch to HPS for cost and longevity.

However, I'm on 225/47/17 RE01R's so if you're running 285/30/18 R Compound, I could understand needing a more aggressive pad and maybe upgraded brakes.

Another wagon owner here!

Waiting for the new sponsored 17x8 Rotas and UPS just dropped off a set of 245-45-17 Azenis.

I have been running 235-45-18 and been using HPS pads and like them though I might get a set of HP+ for the events.

Leading the Central Florida Region at least for now.

Why the Azenis ... and why such a tall tire? 245/40/17 would have been better ...

Because its all I could get from a sponsor at this point and I didn't have moola to put up for something more. Trust me, up to this point I have been running my DD tires so this is going to be an improvement.

And that link would have helped a couple of weeks back as well.

The set was $494.00

But there are always discussions about what the top tires are on Motorsports and the SCCA forums. Or you can just ask. The 615 is at least one generation behind the times. Not a great tire at the limit ... lets got fairly abruptly. I just paid $525.76 for my Bridgestone RE-11 AND I get $100 back during the promotion.

I have noticed that in my car, when I go from full boost to hard brakes quickly, there isn't any vacuum in the system and the brake pedal is super stiff. Well, I always just thought it was an issue with my car, but yesterday I drove someone else's esp wrx and it had the same issue. Is there a solution to this?

I have a similar issue except mine goes to the floor. I have to remember to pump it real fast after a long straight.

I was going to swap out the booster line with another wrx and try that because they have a valve in the line. I was thinking perhaps mine was faulty.

IDK.

I thought I read somewhere that vacuum canisters were allowed - they aren't? For me, it seems like a safety thing, because losing my brakes just doesn't inspire confidence.

EDIT:

15.6 - A. Any brake line, single or dual master cylinder, vacuum brake
booster
, or brake proportioning valves may be used. This does
not allow multiple separate cylinders, but does allow for any
single, dual-circuit cylinder.

I saw my car in its transition state this evening.

295/30R18s are kinda beastly looking on it. It definitely looks like a mini-Stompy.
