It seems really low to me too. Both Greg and I use 32/28 for our 285/30R18s. With the Boss302 Mustang I ended up running at Toledo, it was one 315s, and still was 31/29.

I run mid 30's (as recommended by hoosier) on my 18x11's and 315's. I've been watching the wear patterns and might actually reduce my front camber a little. Still more testing to do, but where's the fun if you're not into semi uncharted area.

Speaking of big wheels and tires, so the 315s only rub the seam sealer on the body and the trailing arms in the rear, but only slightly... but I suspect that is happening due to me running them down to 26psi front, 21psi rear (see picture for sidewall flex):
Nice to meet you at Crows.

I have only had to do one front and 1 rear bearing on mine, but I upgraded my fronts to the LIC ones recently anyway. I think it is just luck of the draw with them.

I know we chatted a bit about pressures etc, and I have very limited experience with the Hoosiers as I told you it was my first time running them at Crows. They felt much better when we upped the pressure (thanks for letting me use your air) on the second day to the low to mid 30's also. Even though I drove like crap my co-driver agreed that they felt better with the pressures higher. We were running low pressures like yours and I have a very similar pic that someone got with the sidewall flex from the first day.

Also I grabbed a few pics of you on from Saturday at Crows let me know if you want originals:

A few more here

Good luck at Packwood!

Thanks, Haha... I honestly think this course just favored the Subaru. Crows felt like more of a Mustang course, and Kit only lost due to too many cone hits... And we both lost to a Mustang.

It was an awesome weekend, great weather and great people! Besides my girlfriend getting heat exhaustion , an otherwise beautiful weekend. My co-driver Chris Heady put the stomp down and landed third by only 0.273 seconds!

I ended up swapping out the 10k front springs for 12k (left the rear 11k alone) since Crows to try and reduce lift in the inside rear. It helped a little, and the car didn't lose too much rotation. It felt a lot more neutral, but it's still bouncy and hoppy in sections... Might try putting the 11k up front and the 10k in back to soften everything up a bit, or I'll just leave it alone

I've got a Cusco 1.5way in rear and an OBX Helical in the front. Still have the stock center.

What else would I change?

Also, I just found out I was top PAX on day 1 and 2nd overall for Packwood Tour! Holy crap!

You were very fast at Packwood. I was co-driving an EVO in SM, and your times would have been competitive with us. We finished 2nd and 4th in class, 8th and 23rd in PAX.

Your codriver is not nearly as energetic as either Jerry nor Jess.

Silly question. I have the opportunity to pick up some cheap aluminum full back seats. Does the 25 lb minimum seat weight from ST* apply to us? I don't wanna purchase them then have to ballast a seat.

No, there is no minimum seat weight in SP.

So, after Packwood, I took all of your guy's advice and tried raising my tire pressures a bit with the 315s.

I ended up (on asphalt) bringing the fronts up to about 31/32psi and the rears up to 26/37psi (from 25psi/20psi). Hard to say if there was an improvement from Crows since that was asphalt, but there was still tons of grip and responsiveness. I haven't seen any pictures, so hard to say about sidewall flex.

I ran 40 in the rear on the 17s at the last El Toro practice day during the last half of the day and it seemed to solve my major issue without causing any significant new issues. I think I have found a new setup. We will see at the next local event.

Might add a little more rear camber to balance the added psi out and improve tire longevity.

My plan on the next set of 18s was to run them 5 psi higher than the 17 to see if I could get a more reasonable life out of them. Now that is starting to run into the max inflation pressures and sounding like the front of GS/HS car. So not so sure any more. Probably try it any way...

Anyone ever run a mixed tire setup (used tires in the back, new in the front)? I figure the diffs would be ok for just racing. Right?

THAT WOULD BE INCORRECT . you cannot do this. you will kill your trans and diff. if they are slightly used tires in the back maybe but if you have really low thread and NEW front you will kill the drive train.

Uh, well, no.

The driveline will accept small differences in tire size without issue. Regarding used tires in back and new in front, I've run newer in front with very old in the back. Other than being stupid tail happy it was fine.

I've even *gasp* mixed compounds before for local events and my car didn't catch fire

I did this last year at nats due to a shipping issue and necessity, used rear/new front. It worked out ok for me and the car didn't assplode.

I actually liked the balance better! Each day we had new fronts.

I know smark had tried running just new fronts on the tt... never asked how it worked.

Sounds like I'll be running sticker fronts and 30ish run rears. maybe 1-2/32nds difference. The rears have been more heat cycled then worn (damn hot laps at the match tour).
