Steiner leaves Haas F1 Team with immediate effect

After leading the Haas Formula 1 squad ever since it arrived on the grid in 2016, Guenther Steiner is no longer the Team Principal of the organisation.

The Haas Formula 1 squad has confirmed that Guenther Steiner has departed his role as Team Principal ahead of this year's campaign.
Ayao Komatsu has been promoted to the position in his place, stepping up from the Director of Engineering duties.
Steiner has been at the helm of the Haas team since it arrived on the grid as F1's newest team in 2016.

Under his leadership, it reached a high of fifth place in the Constructors' Championship, achieved in 2018.
However, Haas has been confined to the rear end of the pecking order across the last handful of seasons and ended last year's campaign at the bottom of the Constructors' standings.
“I’d like to start by extending my thanks to Guenther Steiner for all his hard work over the past decade and I wish him well for the future, ” said team owner Gene Haas.
“Moving forward as an organization it was clear we need to improve our on-track performances. In appointing Ayao Komatsu as Team Principal we fundamentally have engineering at the heart of our management.

Haas calls for improvements

As it looks to bounce back from a difficult campaign, Haas has backed Komatsu to lift the team from its slump.
“We have had some successes, but we need to be consistent in delivering results that help us reach our wider goals as an organization,” Gene Haas continued.

“We need to be efficient with the resources we have but improving our design and engineering capability is key to our success as a team.

“I’m looking forward to working with Ayao and fundamentally ensuring that we maximize our potential – this truly reflects my desire to compete properly in Formula 1.”

Haas enters the 2024 F1 season with an unchanged line-up from last year as it once again field Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg.

So Andretti adds no value to F1.
I guess Haas does't add value to F1 either but they let them in anyway.
What about 2010?
Virgin
Lotus
HRT
What kind of value did they add?

Then they said that they won't be able to compete.
Haas did a pretty good job from 2016-2018.

Curious if Haas will just finish out current regulations and then sell his seat to Andretti for 2026... Might not be a bad move for him, although you think he'd have just kept Gunther around if that was the case.

It does seem like an odd ruling though. Chevy has a great engine in the Indycar - won 7 builders championships in the last 12 years. They know how to build a motorsports engine. (sure, i get that it's supposed be branded as "Cadillac", but no way it wouldn't be the same builders, it's all GM after all).

This is crazy news.

I'm excited for the musical chairs that this starts.

I predict Albon to Merc. Sainz to Sauber. Bottas to Williams.

But then does Checo earn another year at RB, or does that get switched up and if so, does he land somewhere else, maybe Williams instead of Bottas... And does Zhou continue at Sauber, or is someone else going to fill that seat...

Looking forward to silly season.

At least it will be entertaining.
Listening to Lewis complaining about the car's handling or the lousy tyre - pit strategy they put him on.

Very confusing news. Let's see if HAM can get Ferrari to get their act together. Doubt LEC is going to make it any easier. Hope SAI gets a good ride elsewhere - crazy if he ends up at AM with ALO.

Why the hate?

Also completely unlikely, but Bottas back to Merc would make me chuckle and pull for him even more...

So far, this has been the best video I've seen on the situation.

I can´t stand Hamilton, he is the most pampered driver in the F1, and I would like to see him break because of the italian system.

And Bottas? (click at your own risk because maybe nsfw)

Mercedes needs a clear No1, now Russell, and a young gun, maybe Antonelli, but not a driver from the third row.

Really excited for the 2024 F1 season with all the team and driver changes being discussed! It's fascinating to see the community's insights on strategies and speculations. Looking forward to seeing how these moves play out on the track. Any predictions on which team will lead the pack this year?
