The yakima ski racks mounting hardware is the biggest PITA to install. Thule's new mounting hardware:

I'd love to get a basket down the road but still have to get my snow steelies and rubber so money is a little tight. I do like the powderhound though. But the Thule looks like a winner, especially with the locks on both the bars and boards!! And 20% off doesnt hurt!!
Thanks for the info! And how can i verify this sale?? Is there a coupon code or something? And wasnt a fan of the rockymounts, not enough bang for the buck for those... Last edited by tippers; 11-17-2011 at 02:41 AM. |

Thule runs this every year for two weeks in Nov-Dec, they call it "Thule days". I work at place called rack attack, they told us its both online and instore. So any/all Thule dealers should have to run this special.
Im pretty sure it starts next week, but it could start the week after thanksgiving. |

Go to your subaru dealership and get these clamps. They are super easy to install and better than any of those Yakima or Thule universal clamps. |

I think I'm going to get the PullTop6 or FlatTop6 instead of the FatCat6..
Reasoning: with my Rapid Aero bars, I can do completely concealed mounting, not using the bar clamps. This gives me ultimate security and cleanliness. Since I'm not using the clamps, my overall height is the same as if I got the FatCat6 and used its clamps. I can mount the FatCat6 the same way Id mount the Thule carriers if I make spacers to space it off the bars. |

Has anyone come up with an alternative to Yakima's Railgrabs? I miss my bike rack but don't plan on using q-clips again and $150 for four clips is a bit much for me.

If you remove your stock rails, you will discover 4 threaded holes, which you can also use for the Control tower/Landing Pad set up like the new imprezas.

I am looking to get one to hold 4 snowboards, and those thule ones look nice. However, I have no factory rails on it or anything. Is it best to go pick one up from the dealer or are there better options out there without dropping too much? I have a 2011 hatch. Thanks

Looking for some help here, does anyone know if there are adapters made to allow this rack:
to fit factory aero-crossbars on an 06 Impreza? I think if the rack had these cross-bar clamps it would fit: but I can't find a part number or even a listing on Rack Attack web-site and the Thule fit-guide says oddly that, "There are no solutions for your vehicle?" |

Anybody using the yakima whisp bars setup? i saw them on ORS, very expensive but they look like quality peices and seem like they would even be more low profile than the subaru bars.
