For you guys putting x-mas lights on your racks...where are you putting the battery itself? Are you stringing it into the cabin or taping it out of the way on the rack itself?

I'm going to be running the wire into the car through the door and plugging it into a power inverter in the cigarette lighter plug. All of the battery powered lights I've seen here are the indoor type and aren't weather resistant.

Is it legal to put x'mas lights on a car (and have them on)?

BTW, Home Depot and Lowes have outdoor battery and solar powered outdoor lights.

Yea, I'm a little skeptical about this. Which is why I'm thinking just a warm white or maybe warm white/green. I would hope a cop wouldn't ticket somebody for having a little Christmas fun.

It really depends on your local laws. I read through ours and basically the way I interpretted it is: No red facing forward, No blue, No green, No flashing white.

I'm sticking with warm white led's on the roof. If anything, they're not really any different than a taxi cab with the lit sign on the roof right? So I think I should be pretty safe with that.
