New 2014 STI Hatch Owner
Last weekend I traded in our 2012 2.0i Impreza Sport Premium (wife's DD) for a 2014 STI Hatch in ISM with 57,000 miles. The STI is my new DD and my wife will take our 2017 Forester XT Touring, which is a great car (especially after being lifted 2") but I wanted something a little bit more fun to drive.
The STI is bone stock, in great shape (the dealership returned it to near mint condition), and just in case I opted for a 4yr/48k B2B warranty. I have no plans to do any engine mods; short term I'm planning cosmetic upgrades like a tint, lip, side window deflectors, taillight overlays, etc. Which brings me to my question -- I want to install AVS low profile side window deflectors, but the car came with the SPT carbon fiber B-pillar trim kit , and I'm worried that any window deflectors aren't going to be compatible. I'm thinking I might be able to just remove the tape from the section of the deflectors that goes over the SPT trim piece so that it lays flat (I could seal it with silicone or something, maybe). Has anybody installed these together? My searching has turned up nothing. Edit: here are some crappy pics; better ones as I get it looking the way I want!

AVS just attaches with double sided tape. The low profile look is cool but they are hardly functional since you get about an 1/8" of gap.

The problem that I'll have with them (or any other side window deflectors) is that they'll overlap with the SPT trim, which sticks out a fair bit from the window frame: Subaru doesn't list this as being incompatible with their window deflectors, but it seems like it will cause fitment issues. In other news, got my Chargespeed Type 2 replica lip installed. |

I have the AVS wind deflectors on my 11 STI. You will need to have a dremel with a sanding bit handy if you want to install them over the carbon trim you have pictured above. You will also need some replacement 3m double sided tape for the area that you intend to trim. It wont take much, like a 1/4 inch at most.

F'ing nice score mate.. I know it's probably sacrilege around here but a dremel is a wondrous and magnificent tool in the hands of a careful eye
