The ibuprofen isn't for the pain, its for the inflammation.

I think I read Arnold used to drink a 6 pack during his workout, so that he would not feel the pain. He would also smoke Js

Arnold said a lot of crap. Most of it not true. Perfect for being an actor and a politician.

Well, I had briefly explained my wrist pain a few weeks back. Last week after doing a light weight set of close grip on the bench, I got up and went to turn my wrist to point at something ( in a very normal range of motion) and it locked in place and popped.

Fun times, so I saw my uncle ( who is my primary knee/shoulder doctor ) had some tests, Early case of Osteoarthritis.. sigh

In other news, set 3 new PR
leg press of 300x5
Bench 130x5
DB Row 60x5
BW: 155

This guy gets it. Massages are also extremely beneficial, and should be factored in once a month (with or without happy ending ).

Alcohol is the best pain reliever. I myself lean towards some Jack and Coke.

Soccer... isn't that the game where you run around a lot and don't get to hit anyone? You really should be allowed to smash people after enduring all that running. That's probably why when our small town team in Germany played, it looked more like rugby than soccer. They were really angry from running up and down that vast expanse of greenery.
adult league tends to be a touch more civil, but I did see a guy's shin break in half last season. That sucked...for him. Clearly he wasn't into powerlifting, or I doubt his bone would have broken.

Stick rocks just because you can use it all the time, anywhere. I forgot to mention, best back massage ever!

I've been following this 2011 thread since day 1, haven't seen any discussion outside of basic references to foam rolling and now this 'stick'. What's the deal with that stuff? I've read its good for recovery, that's about it.

I stretch and warm up thoroughly before workouts, but no other real prep/recovery work.

I was wondering how a small guy like yourself can move around so much weight, it makes sense now.

Dude. No way are those percentages right for a push press. Find your max next time then do percentages based on that.

You think they're too low? Since my max was 180 on sohp I just estimated my push press was between 200 & 210 and stayed conservative.

I've actually calmed down a little bit.

I'm going to better form, trying to perfect it each time. I haven't gone above 315lbs on my DL's for over a month, and I keep squats to about 75% of my max. just trying to perfect my form before I try to add more weight.

I have been watching videos on squats, and I think I have been doing it wrong. Ripplefro said you need to do hip drive. Like shove your ass out,and push from there. I have been lifting my chest up, and pushing from there. Son of a B, there is alot to know

What you need, my friend, is a 1 on 1. Spend the extra 5-10 minutes and find a competent trainer who can watch you do a couple squats and see your form. There's only so much guidance videos and words on a screen can do.

I know I wish I could do that. The trainers at the gym require you to sign up for like 10 sessions minimum. I was thinking about hiring you
edit:actually I know just the guy to ask

Your chest should be pushed out (think macho man trying to impress the ladies)...and your lats/traps should be tight holding the bar. Once you learn that your core and legs are actually separate and move independently of each other, you're in good shape.

Do a few sets of kettlebell squats, or even goblet squats. Also, it was posted earlier, but doing a few wall squats help too.

No problem. The thing I learned is spend a good few weeks on your form. Keep it light. Proper form will help you with more weight. Don't be afraid to look like a ***** at the gym, because I've seen kids stack up big weights and hurt themselves. Your back is your lifeline, it can be your best friend, but mistreat it, and it can be your worse enemy.

Ya right now I am squatting 195. It is hard for me but not impossible. I have been doing 3x5 with this weight. So I guess i will stay at that weight, and work on the form

I'd go lighter. Seriously. Throw on 135 and practice with that.
