Default Need a new commuter Subaru help $8000 or less

Hi everyone, I currently have a 2007 Outback 2.5i Limited in the family with 155k on it currently. We bought it in 2017 with 86k from the original owner for $8500 with all service records since new, timing belt and head gaskets done, the works. Were looking for another Outback and open to any advice but wed like some buyers guide help on what years, engines and transmission combinations to avoid. We pile on the miles as this is our commuter car and need to know what to look out for as well as what to make sure has been done if we dont end up finding another 2.5i.

What years and engines to look for?

What years and engines to avoid and why?

Should we avoid the H6?

What maintenance and repairs to look out for etc? Any help would be great! Thank you!

anything newer than you have Outback. I have a 17 Outback and had an 08 also. Really like them for the wife. If you have an 07 then you know what to expect. Nothing really different. If you like the fuel mileage then stick to the 2.5. There s really no bad years moving forward from where you are. Just a matter of finding the right car.
$8000 is kinda low but look and maybe you ll come across something decent.
