Looking forward to updates!

However, how am I the first one to mention that the #1 priority needs to be swapping out that awful hood scoop for either a stock or JDM buyeye scoop? It looks terrible...

Congrats man! I bet that thing feels like a dog even compared to your 11 when it was stock. I rode in a friends stage 2+ bug and it felt slow compared to my stage 1 11. So much potential and good parts for less cash than a GR though! It will be epic.

Haha. This is an odd way of thinking...

For a bigger build it makes a lot more sense to have a DD and project separate. I liked having a high power daily driver but it just wasn't practical when it needed work. The Forester and Bugeye cost about as much as the 11 WRX and it frees me up to work on the car and not worry about how to get to work.

Probably won't happen unless I get one for free. It will eventually be FMIC so it will have a flat plate/vent or a flat hood.

Yep it's not very fast. Faster than the Forester though (I think). Need to work on changing that...

Welcome to the land of the Bugeyes

It looks like a really solid base. Congrats on the new project and I really look forward to seeing where it goes!

Also, you have too many threads for me to follow

I have a stock hood scoop from my forester XT. It matches your bolt pattern and is silver. It is laying around collecting dust. If you want it it's yours free of charge.

SUBSCRIBED!! Glad I caught this early in the build. I also just bought an 02 Bugeye WRX with 98k miles and the only mod was a Borla muffler. My body is probably just as bad, several dings & dents in the hood but I couldn't pass on an 02 with only 98k miles unmodded. This will be the first car I've ever really worked on and it will be a slow drawn out process for me. I'm excited to see where you take it and don't be surprised if I follow closely in your footsteps haha!

Not enough power. And too heavy.

But if it was boosted....

I didn't really care if it was unmodded or not. I just want a decent body and a low price. I was lucky enough to find one that is running. I was totally prepared to buy something with a blown motor or tranny. I think it worked out very well with what I got.

Some Parts:

Stock 04 STI Springs and Struts:

GrimmSpeed Uppipe and CrossPipe:

GrimmSpeed Downpipe:

GrimmSpeed Gasket Set:

04 STI Front Axles (For Later):

Also picked up an 04 STI driveshaft for later.

Only shot while working was right after I pulled the TMIC:

I got some work done but it was slow because a lot for the bolts are rusted on very, very hard. So far I have removed the headers, crosspipe, uppipe, downpipe, exhaust and wheels. Several rusted on exhaust bolts gave me issues and a few broke. 6 of 8 strut bolts are a rusted on hard enough that the impact couldn't get them off. Hoping to get all this bolt on stuff done (and maybe a few other things) in the next week or two. No 6 speed yet, but hopefully later.
