Default Sneak Peak at Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

To feed the hype frenzy, Sony has released – in Japan anyway – the demo for Gran Turismo 5 (Gran Turismo 5 Prologue). The U.S. demo version will be released on April, 17. The preview shows off the games realistic graphics and wealth of available cars. While the demo only has 37 cars, the U.S. version will have 67. While the full game is still months (years?) away, the video will give you a taste of what you can expect from the demo.

I've been waiting so long for this game, thank god its delayed though. PS3 prices will hopefully drop, if not at least it gives me time to save up money to buy one.

Same here. I waited for GT4 before I bought a PS2, and the only reason I will be buying a PS5 is for GT5. Sadly, they still do not have an inside the car, dashboard view, that would make it perfect.

I know there's gonna be the in-car view in the full version of the game...which is what I'm going to wait for.

Really?!?!? As in not just the front bumper view but rather full dashboard view? I know that the demo does not have any in car view, only the bumper view, but it would be awesome if they are adding it. If so I think I will be getting fired within weeks of getting it.

You can play the demo on many of the PS3 kiosks in stores in my area. I played it at a target....for like 45 minutes!!!! It has leguna seca as the default track and you can choose a nismo skyline as a car. I finally left after the guy in the department had security come over and ask me if I planned on buying anything. I replied, "not after this treatment" and stormed off.

I downloaded a GT5P demo off the Japan store a long time ago. It was made available to coincide with the Tokyo Auto Show. Is this a new demo?

Why no damage? Still after all these years/versions they refuse to damage cars. Everyone else does damage, the biggest complaint of most gamers, in any genre is that the environment doesn't change. You drive a M5 160 off a.... well lets just say there should be some damage.

40 dollars for a small demo. If it was 20 I may get it and finely pay the money for a PS3 to play it on. I still think the PS3(top system) is to much money.

Think about it dude. Look at the amount of time it's taken them to model a game that looks like this, and they're not even done yet! Hence the demo. Now, if they had to go through and model the damage for all these cars you're looking at twice the or three times the work, meaning twice or three time longer until the full game comes out. I'm not defending them, it really sucks, but that's just how it is. Which is why I bought Forza to hold me over.

They say they don't want to put damage in until they can write a good algorithm for it.

So when I'm about to lose, I can pit maneuver the leading car and win

I'm glad there's no damage. I hate it in Forza 2 when I fall asleep because its so boring and I ran smack into a wall and wreck my car, by which then I'll have to start all over again and get bored even more.

So off goes the damage simulation. And yes, I'm glad this isn't real life

I hope the 24 hour races in GT5 actually cycles through the day. Night time racing would rock so much.

If you get a damage model you will sacrifice some graphics....as there is only a finite amount of room for information. Forza has a great damage model, and it forces you to actually drive. But the cost of said model is peak graphics. GT5 will have better graphics, but Forza will have better game play. It keeps you honest.

GT5 will be a great game no doubt, but I am waiting for Forza 3
