4.36v = jumper problem

Take your jumper out, cut the clip, and splice the 2 wires. Not an awesome option, but it should work

where you been all day, mikey? i've read 100 threads with 1000 different explanations.

i never take the jumper out so what difference does it make if i splice it? i don't like cutting my harness, but i don't see the harm in this.

you don't think its the crimp connectors on the longer wires to the green connector switch? i don't either, cause its like an on-off. it does turn the green connector "on".

i guess you have a reason for thinking 4.36v is def a jumper problem. probally past experience.

i hope its the jumper and not the actual wire.

funny thing is, i break the green connector, and the blue connector ends up being a problem? maybe that blue connector has been hit or miss for sometime. i have had open source problems since the beginning...and like every step of the way.

guess i'm lucky i haven't brickt yet already.

Well, IMO u need to look at the last thing you did before u had this problem and that would be the green connector switch job.

Do u go into test mode if u flick ur switch and go to acc?

^I dont know if it would do it in the Acc position, I think the ignition has to be in the On position to go into test mode.

goes into test mode in the on poisition. i think the switch was working, although i have now since cut it out. i can put it back in. i think the problem is in the jumper block like mikey said. he must be on to something to post with such conviction.

i live by that moto ron..."what was the last thing you messed with?"

Maybe a dumb question but did you strip the wires before twisting them together?

I would beg, borrow, or steal a multimeter so you can actually troubleshoot the issue. Start by checking continuity and resistance through your green test connector switch and wiring extensions. Then check continuity through your "twisted" wires. I don't have the 16bit ecu pinout but they're floating around. If your wiring mods are as they should be (which I suspect is not the case) start moving down the harness until you find the issue.

If you grab some piercing leads you can essentially isolate the wiring you've done and check the connections that you've made. You won't find a faulty connection by checking at your splice unless there is a problem at your switch.

It's possible you have a bad connection where you extended the test connectors to the switch and/or your connections to the switch are faulty. It's also possible you pulled on the harness too much and damaged it elsewhere.

Of course there is always the possibility that lightning has struck your car's test harness leaving it a smoldering pile of goo behind the dash. If this is the case see aforementioned multimeter statement.

The problem with just randomly "fixing" things without actually knowing the cause is that a faulty connection may work sometimes but it really ruins your day when it decides to stop in the middle of a reflash.

disclaimer: I'm not encouraging anyone to actually steal anything, it's a figure of speech.

yeah, i hear ya. i'm either gonna head over to sj subyworks tonight or last minute motorsports friday. i'm not gonna cut anything else till we get a meter on it.

i'm feeling like i'm a bag of mortar away from a brick walled ecu. as easy as that connector came apart , i'm lucky i didn't brick it already.

yeah ecuflash doesn't connect at all. i can learning view and RR logger , but when i try ecuflash, i flip the switch that connects the green connectors. turn the key to on and hit okay on the pc. it immediately stops and gives me a code that it can't connect.

i should have screen shot-ted it...

That is absolutely a sign that the flash wires are not connected.

I also believe the jumper wires are the problem. Over the years i have pulled on that shortass wire. I need the 02 wrx ecu pin-out. Still waitin on that email mr. Foy.

I will probally try and run a new wire from the ecu...back to the ecu?

Anybody ever attempt this?

so jodie and i discussed that one wire is from the ecu. the other is a ground. when they are connected it grounds out. i don't know what that does when grounded but if i find the right wire, cut it and ground it, i won't have to worry about a jumper block ever again.

any imput is appreciated fellas.

can we hurry this up a bit , i wanna drag this car before the end of the season.

dude my life does not revolve around your car and that's something that can easily be found with this cool new search engine called google.
