pfft. Too bad it's so slow. You need to find a good engineer to design your stuff for you. Or a better driver.

Britan, how do you know it's aero related and not suspension setup related? How fast are u going when the front looses grip?
Btw, what's the new trans top out at in 1st? It looks like 2nd is a little tall, or maybe this course was really tight.
Is NLTS an option with your dog ring gear box or do u have that enabled? Shifts look really fast, so I wouldn't complain.
I've done a few really tight ax's in 1st and recall the engine breaking being really distracting. Maintaining precise speed (@ like 6-7 k) was not easy. I like it to glide mor like it does in 2nd. Maybe its less interfering in a 2wd car. Is engine breaking in 1st distracting at all to you?

Some interesting questions here.

1. Aero. I know that it is aero related based on the amount of downforce the rear wing is producing and the setup of the car. The car is intentionally set-up on the loose side and when I hit speeds above 65mph or so I can start to feel the rear grip increasing to a point where I no longer have any oversteer. In fact, it is very hard to get the rear loose when I am running up at those speeds.

2. Gearing. At this point I am aware that I am geared properly and I am working on getting different ratios. 1st gear tops out about 60mph and you can see I am on the rev limiter in quite a few sections. 2nd gear is way too tall and drops me out of the powerband in the slow sections. A new 2nd gear is coming soon.

3. Shifting. Yes, I can do a no-lift shift. Manually at this point, but I have the electronics on the car to allow it to be done automatically. The shifting is so much quicker that the synchro box.

4. Engine Breaking. I use the engine braking to rotate the car. This is one thing I really miss with the 6-cylinder NA motor. At higher boost levels and high RPM's I can get some of this back. Possibly different in a 2-wheel drive car compared to a 4-wheel drive car.

The Where2Race Porsche 914 had a great outing this past weekend at the NWR SCCA Solo Autocross #7 in Packwood, WA. Took overall top time both days and grabbed 2nd in PAX on Sunday. The course was fast and challenging, with several opportunities to make mistakes. The car ran great, new gearing was much better. Here is a video of my fastest run...enjoy.

1 --> 2 shift = entering hyper space!

I think a 1 2 shift right after the first slalom would have improved your time even more so. 2nd gear is soo much shorter and useful!

I tried it both ways and holding against the rev limiter in this section was faster. Partially due to the entry into that corner and also due to the necessity to downshift into the tight slalom after the sweeper just 10secs after this.

Britain. Love what you have done with your 914. Awesome all the way around. I have 74 914 with an ej18. I eventually will do full sti engine and tranny swap. I was curios though Are you using the subaru alternator and if so how did you wire it in your 914?

Yep, Subaru alternator. Hooking it in is simple...just wire it to the battery or the starter.

That trans is very clean. What did you use or was it just media blasted?

It is just ran through the parts washer. Might have been media blasted at one point in its life.

Very cool project. Do you happen to have anymore pictures of how you routed the catch can lines/coolant lines for the overflow/upper expansion tank?

Thanks Dootlah!

Not sure what you are asking here. The Coolant overflow tank just connects with a single hose to the top of the reservoir tank on the intake manifold.
