Not normally an "American Muscle" fan, but this is definitely an exception.

Question for you all... What color to powder coat the valve covers. They are black now but I have so much in the engine bay being black (ex. Black AN fittings and black braided hose), I was thinking a brighter color to break it up some. Really debating on a pink... kinda to bring the subaru pink into the ls engine. The black coils will be over the valve cover so I think it might work.. but i think the turbo and fab work will bring it all together. Whats yalls input on valve cover color ideas????

What color is the car going to be? Is there any kind of color theme for the interior? Perhaps you could tie all that in under the hood. I have subscribed to this thread and like others, I admire your work. Good job, can't wait to see the end result.

car is staying in factory paint ( silver) , engine bay staying stock, just the base coat from the factory... Not doing any paint work on the car b/c I'm not making a show car and repainting in my opinion kills the value of the car and raises questions if its been wrecked. Just have alot of black in the engine bay... just wanna break it up some. Interior is factory as well. Black, with a hint of blue in the seats |

I think the STI pink sounds like a good idea.

Yea, STI pink, or maybe WRB??
Either of those would be a good way to bring the Subaru color/theme to that motor. |

I think pink would b kind of a popping color. Blue would still stand out but not steal the show. And im a fan of gunmetal?
Just my opinion. And I dont think i've said it yet, but this is the coolest build thread i've ever seen. Not many catch my eye. |

Finished running all the stainless steel brake lines last night... I've already have a new intercooler and radiator idea that i really want to do but i really just can't start over on it now. Maybe on down the road if I want to change it up some after the car is driveable.

Body match your valve covers! Don't ruin your awesome build with obnoxious pink valvecovers :/ make it clean!

Is that just a Subaru mishimoto rad? And did you find a solution for the rear end? Last edited by 05subysti; 04-29-2013 at 10:37 AM. |

I think I'm with bigolrig on this one. I much prefer the original color match clean look better than the eccentric pink, but still my favorite build thread ever!

from what i've found the 4.8's to do... and a local guy / tuner, did 1100whp and over 1100 tq on his daily driven 4.8, remote mount setup, even had stock rod bolts... Im guessing it should do 700whp fairly easy. My turbo is rated to 940 hp so thats what is gonna limit me. |

Agreed. I wish the Subaru community did more custom work, exotic engine swaps, and conversions. Most people are so afraid of change and worry about the nit-picky track spec stuff like proper suspension geometry, proper alignment, and tire compound. It's a real relief to see someone to try new stuff and not worry about the stupid stuff. I guess most Subaru's worth modifying are too new and too expensive to risk messing up with this quantity of heavy reengineering at this point. Maybe a few more years and we'll have more build threads like this one!
