Default Anyone use Vinny Ten Racing or Performance auto Solutions?

Anyone use Vinny Ten Racing or Performance auto Solutions? I saw a couple of posts from 2 years ago which seem to be positive for both shops. I was interested in an HID Retro fit for my '12 WRX, which brought me to Performance Auto as a reccommended installer from TRS, and noticed they also did tunes. Both are listed as authorized Cobb tuners. VTR also came up as a buddy of mine just took his G35 there for some dyno pulls. Hes actually there now so Ill have to wait and see how he felt about the place.

Only drawback was VTR doesnt do any retrofit kits for HIDs, where Performance Auto seems to do both. Anyone have any experience with either for Tunes or accessory work?

+2 for PAS, and read recent reviews on VTR, not quite as good.

For what its worth - my buddy had a good experience there. He mainly went for a few dyno pulls to see where his car was at, and where VTR could take it with just a tune. After only 2 pulls, he pretty much told him his car was in top shape, and wouldnt waste my buddys money tuning it since the gains would be minimal. From who I spoke with they seemed friendly a knowledge as well. The only drawback for me is I was thinking of getting the HID Retro fit and tune done at the same time. Where PAS would be a one stop shop, VTR could only do the tune. Not a deal breaker though.

For a tune if that area your better off with tach then vtr. Vtr has a good staff, but their customer service and time attention I don't know, I have hard bad things recently. Look on some of the nissan forums. Also I would go to the shops see which you like the best in person. If you like VTR then go there. People on a forum can give advice but in the end you will know if it feels right or not.

Subaru Stars

Pas for sure! Just picked up my headlights this week. They do great work. Alittle pricey but if you make up an account on longislandsubaruclub.com and message them there, they will give you a discount for being a member.
As for tuning I could recommend M.R Peformance. In westbury, longisland. They have a mustang dyno. He does good work. Ask For Ryan.

Dave at PAS tuned my 07 STi which ran for over 85k trouble free miles making 360wtq and now my 11 at 25k making close to 400 wtq on E85 @ 19psi. The great thing is he could have pushed it more to get higher numbers but cares more about doing a solid safe tune than making higher numbers. This is why they are the only ones who work on my car.

+1 for PAS. FYI, PAS used to be known as MSPT and the tuner is Dave Brown.

I'd pass on VTR unless you have a supra. Its been a very long time since i've run into a few OG SQC guys that had tunes there, and they had a bad experience with over fueling. Maybe they have someone there now more knowledgable about subarus, but i dont think its their forte.

-1 for PAS. There was an engine failure while dyno tuning my car. The failure was not their fault and they did what I paid them to do. The fact that they told me the car was running fine and I could drive it home. Took my payment and watched me try and drive away. Then said I must have gotten on the gas to hard and blew something up. That was was unethical. They should have told me the truth. Would been a lot less bearing material causing more damage trying to drive with something broke. I would have paid them for me to take the car. I think they were worried about their payment and not my car. BTW Collin tuned my car. I don't know if Dave is with them anymore. I will never give them my business again. Or recommend anyone else, every Subaru owner should hear that not everything they do is good.

Don't think Dave is associated with them anymore.

Vtr is the only shop I let touch my car, that goes from maintenance all the way to tuning and making safe reliable power!

That's terrible to hear. It sounds like your car spun a bearing on the dyno. You should not idle or run the engine when it's knocking. Subaru engines, especially turbo and AVCS equipped engines, are notoriously expensive to repair when you spin a bearing. You'll end up having to replace camshaft sprockets on top of the already-in-need-of-replacing oil pump, oil cooler, and etc. Low oil pressure causes the turbocharger to fail as well and bearing material can score camshafts & camshaft journals beyond repair.
