WRX gas tank?
Does anyone know if a wrx gas tank will fit in a BD?
I have major gas/air in lines problems when I am taking corners hard and gassing out of them. I have heard that wrx dont have this problem due to better design. Even at a half tank I get this issue.

Based on talking to many WRX and STI drivers at auto-x and open track events, I think their gas tanks are WORSE for fuel slosh/fuel starvation issues than mine.

Yes, you can fit a WRX tank into a BD - I currently have one my '97 LGT. I can't comment on fuel slosh since I don't race my Legacy.
Side note: I needed the tank in my 1997 LGT to make my WRX swap emissions legal. Apparently in 1998, they changed tank designs to incorporate all the necessary OBDII equipment so I missed the cutoff by 1 year If you've got a 1997, be prepared to source a lot of clips, bolts, etc since there is apparently more to a WRX tank than a 1997 Legacy (not sure if you'll be hooking all that up). I can't comment on 1998+ tanks but be warned: you'll be encountering a LOT of rusty bolts so be prepared to have patience - and hopefully a donor car to pull clips, brackets, etc from. FYI, I didn't do the tank swap so what I wrote above is about everything I know on the subject. |

You will need to go with a fuel cell or secondary surge tank set up to get rid of the fuel starvation problem. I have to keep more than 1/2 tank when running Rcompounds. There are lots of threads on this issue for STis. The turbos have it worse because the fuel demand is greater at WOT.
Only reason to go with a WRX tank would be if yours is damaged or rusted out. |

If you're driving fast enough and violently enough to get fuel starvation on the street you're a ****ing ass clown. I've experienced fuel starvation before, but only during auto-x events while executing very quick transitions that one should simply not see in anything resembling normal street driving.
