Frontier Subaru, Winnipeg - MB
The only game in town. Won't budge too much on price. Nice ppl in general especially Ron Edgar and Monique.
The place should move or get some renovations. It looks like just a crappy used car dealership. Oh well, I'm not there for the dealership, it's the cars that bring me in.

I totally agree. I mentioned this to Subaru of Canada and although they didn't say they'd fix it, they thanked me for my suggestions and said they where forwarding my letter to Fugi Heavy Industries (or whatever its called). I think there is diffinetly a need for another dealership.

Picked up my car on Oct.19th. Paperwork was fast.
I got the car but was unhappy w/ the delivery job. It could pass, but it was definetly not to my standards. Being a judge at car shows you can get a feel for what I call a good detailing job. The windows were just wiped. There were still streaks and a brain like imprint on the rear windows. They went overboard on the tire dressing and got overspray all over the car. I found tape marks and scuff marks. All these problems were easily solved though as I have some friends who are professional detailers and we worked on the car for a whole day getting it to what is passable in my book. Basically the dealership is great in terms of doing the deal, but the detailers they have there are horrendous. I wouldn't let them wash my car again. They don't seem to care and just half ass the whole delivery process. Bottom line: Sales B look of dealership: C- detailers: F |

Yeah there's got to be a reason that Frontier pushed Marion motors out of the way.
If you want hole in the wall...look at how Marion was. Can you imagine buying your car from there? Looks like my idea for Frontier to move to the old Birchwood BmW location is out, now that NVL has it. Maybe when Mitsubishi comes to town will we see Subie moving to a new location. |

Reviving this 10-year-old thread in case any of the original posters are still around.
I'm new to Winnipeg and brought my '00 Outback with ~215,000km on it with me. Where is a good place to get it serviced? I've got a check engine light on and one or two subtle problems with the transmission and I'd like a mechanic who has experience with outbacks. How are the dealership's mechanics? WMHS |

Bad, bad boys!
Purchased a 09 Forester for my wife and an 09 WRX for myself new from Frontier. Sales people were excellent, no complaints in that department. Overall very, very happy owning two new Subies.
Drove 10,200 km on my WRX and the clutch disintegrated 300 km north of Winnipeg. No problem, Subaru covers the tow all the way back to Winnipeg. All is good! Not! Three weeks later I have my WRX back from Frontier and a new OEM clutch installed and covered under warranty, I'm thinking, great! Two weeks later, the starter will not engage the flywheel! WTF, another two weeks at Frontier for warranty work that should have been done the first time around. So now I'm thinking, do I sell this lemon of a car or do the technicians at Frontier know WTF there doing! Up til now, no other issues with Frontier Subaru, however, for the last couple of weeks I have been replacing most of the OEM bushings, ie. steering rack, upper, lower control arms, SS, ALK, etc. Last week I had to order a new rear transmittion cross brace because the tech working my warranty work stripped out the two upper nuts on the plate holding the bushings. Do ya think they would even consider changing out the $60 peice of steel, or try to cut the nut and weld a new one on! Nooooop...So I start snooping around the rest of the underside and low and behold, the covers for my engine mounts are missing! W....T....F...! If you want my advise, look for a good, preferably reputable, performance shop, not this dealership! Frontier Subaru, sorry dudes, but you're not getting anymore of my business, Period. |

On Thursday July 7th 2011 I had taken my car in because I had a vibration in the steering wheel when braking (I figured it was my front rotors) They charged me 49.95 plus tax for diagnostic fee. They then charged me another 49.95 to turn the rotors. At which time they then informed me that the back bushings on my control arms were shot and needed to be replaced. Total bill was 550.00 after tax.
I picked up my car at the end of the day, paid the bill, and left the dealership. I directly took it out onto the highway to do some high speed stops to see if they fixed it. As i reached 105kmph (62mph ish) a vibration was felt in the steering wheel (not when breaking this time) I ignored that and did a few stops and it looked like they fixed the original problem, however now I have a vibration at high speeds. I took it back on Monday and they charged me 90.00 to balance the tires and they said that my back wheel was bent. At this point I am frustrated at the dealership and I went and picked it up. Today I was on my way to get the rim fixed at Winnipeg Wheel Works. On my way there again on the highway I have a worse vibration in the steering wheel at only 80Kmph (after Subaru's wheel balancing the vibration is worse???) So i pull in to Winnipeg Wheel Works, they repair the rim while I wait, and re-balance all the rims / tires. At this point they said that a bake wheel being bent would not cause the vibration in the steering wheel, however the front wheels were horribly out of balance. I did a road test and now there is no vibration at all. So the conclusion is that the Subaru dealer charged me 90 bucks to not balance my rims properly. Now I am trying to get my money back but the Subaru dealer says it wasn't there fault, and that I must have hit a pot hole between yesterday and today that unbalanced all 4 wheels. So to answer your question... I dont think this dealership knows how to fix a car. |

Just a warning to anyone I woudl stay away from taking my car to subaru for repairs in winnipeg. We purchased a brand new subaru and everytime we took it in for regular maintaince we would take it home and it would end up having issues we take it back and the bill would be huge even though it was under warranty. Now that we stopped going there our cars is fine no problems. I had it out with the service department and the general manager I think the outfit is shady and they dont know what they are doing. I also contacted Subaru Canada and Subaru Usa about their actions. Good Luck to anyone who deals with them.
