Who has been to the STI shop in Japan? Worth going?
I'm making a trip out to Japan among other Asia countries. I have the address of the STI shop from their Japanese web site. I'm wondering who from I-club has been to their shop in Tokyo? Is it a shop with parts in stock, or just a show room? Worth going to?
Thanks.

Look for Chim Chim. He's actually in Japan right now, and has gone to a couple of stores.

I haven't been to the STI shop personally, though it's close enough. From all reports, there's not a lot to see, they don't even show most of their products in the showroom. Time is better spent at the various Super Autobacs or other car parts superstores. Well, what passes for super in Japan, at least.

That's what I was thinking, Shirokuma. Probably mostly catalog, posters there and not much else but small parts like shift knobs, stickers, etc. Can't even ask them too many relevent questions because of the langauage barrier.
Is Super Autobacs a name to a shop? If it is, without a Japanese address, I won't be able to get to it anyway. I have been to couple of car part super stores there. They sell really general products there. Nice stuff, but just not exactly what I was looking for. They are the Pep Boys of Japan, but with higher quality stuff. BTW, they have pretty nice Japanese rims there at those stores. Manufacturers we've never heard of, but nice looking rims. If I have time, I will swing by the general car part stores again this time around. |

I went to the STI store in Tokyo, nothing much just got a whole pile of brochures For goods, I went to Super Autobacs in Tokyo Bay, it's just opposite the road from the train station. Here's their site http://www.sa-tokyobay.com/

The problem with actual tuner shops in Japan is that they are just that, a shop usually, so don't carry much stock in the shop itself. Just order it when they need it from their warehouse. Usually the Super Autobacs has much more stuff on display. Paul Hansen |
