I don't mind this time. Was a pretty good race all around IMO. Feel bad for Gasly, though.

It was a good race, may be next time for Max. Seems Mercedes ability to adapt to race conditions and a seasoned driver are hard to beat.

Tsunoda did exceptionally well for his first F1 race.

Nice comeback by Perez
Alpine came up small
So did Vettel. The one stopper didn't work
Anybody surprised by Mazepin?

Wondering if Lewis cheated to this win.
He was cutting a corner ( can't remember which corner) most of the race until he was told to stop. Once again the Stewarts napping on the job.

Great race! Tsunoda had an impressive first race! It was shaping up to be a good scrap to the end, and then the stewards got in the way. But did anyone notice how Max and Bottas just left from the podium? That was pretty weird. Is something going on? I get that they both had frustrating races, but they just walked off once the champagne was brought out. The only person left for the photo was Lewis and the team rep. Seemed fishy to me.

The only odd thing I see is that Lewis was running wide at turn 4 a number of times before his team told him to stop. The officials did nothing.
But you have to wonder if Max didn't give the spot back after going wide on turn 4 that time, what would have happened.

Also they couldn't spray the champagne...? May be that was covid related...

I finally got around to watching this race on my DVR. Pretty much as expected. Appears to be the natural evolution from 2020 season to now. I hope Lewis can be challenged this year.

I thought the same thing regarding the running wide. Max could've positioned himself a bit better had he let Lewis retake later in the lap. Oh well.

They've always sprayed/drank Rosewater, not Champagne, in Bahrain. I didn't watch post race stuff, but maybe they just didn't do it this year.

Yeah, Max's team messed up there. He should have waited for a better part of the track to give back the spot. He seemed pretty comfortable he could have made up the 5 seconds to negate the penalty.
Should be an interesting year. A little disappointed in the Ferrari speed. I was hoping Leclerc would be in the mix as well.

The difference was 96 race wins vs 10. I love the skill of Max, but his patience often gets the worst of him. Plenty of DRS zones and laps left. But it was a tremendous first race and look forward to seeing Perez help Max in putting the pressure against Mercedes. I look forward to what McLaren and AlphaTauri can bring.

Yeh, I agree about Max's team but DRS zones and laps left seem to be because of miscalculations not because of his patience.

so nearly business as usual
Hamilton being Hamilton
Bottas being the driver second class
Vettel being Vettel
Alonso being "engine no power" Alonso
Verstappen still making little mistakes
Russel promising
Leclerc promising
Perez promising
Tsunoda still a rookie
Alfa Romeo and Haas only there to fill up the field
McLaren not as strong as everyone was hoping

So give Mazespin 1/2 a lap before incident/retirement this race?
Think the team I want to root for this year is AT. And at least Williams isn't sitting at the back of the grid, but the season is just getting started...

Miami sighed a 10 year deal with F1.
Miami stadium circuit is a go.

https://www.crash.net/f1/news/975684...-calendar-2022

The Miami Grand Prix will finally join the Formula 1 calendar in 2022 as part of a 10-year agreement to host grand prix racing.

F1’s announcement follows years of delays after the championship initially hoped to stage a first-ever Miami GP in October 2019 but was forced to abandon those plans.

Following objections to the race from locals, F1 had to make changes to its planned location for the Florida race, moving from downtown Miami to a new purpose-built track around the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins NFL team.

A breakthrough was finally reached earlier this week when city commissioners voted in favour of a crucial new resolution despite opposition remaining from local activists, paving the way for F1 to conclude a deal.

Promoters will also provide discounted tickets to the grand prix for locals and support the community by prioritising nearby restaurants to be official venders for the event.

“We are thrilled to announce that Formula 1 will be racing in Miami beginning in 2022,” said F1 CEO and president Stefano Domenicali.

“The US is a key growth market for us, and we are greatly encouraged by our growing reach in the US which will be further supported by this exciting second race.

If there's one thing I'd like to have it's Hamilton's luck.

Breaks a front wing on lap 1 - safety car.
Crashes and loses a lap - safety car. Gets the lap back.

Make no mistake. He's a great driver, but he sure has a lot of things go his way.

Goes to show you how far ahead Red Bull and Mercedes are compare to the rest.
Guessing McLaren is the 3rd best car. Leclerc couldn't get past an ailing Norris's McLaren.
Poor Kimi, lost his points.
Once again The stewards were caught napping:
Vettel's car was being worked on before the race and didn't issue a stop-go penalty until well into the race. (22 laps)

It was rather sad to see Perez's race go south the way it did after a tremendous qualifying. Once the rain hit, I bet the smile on Max's face just lit up, dude can straight race in the rain. Strange as it is, I still have yet to really give any attention to the returned Alonso, it was fantastic watching him in the past, but the young drivers have gotten my attention. Based on the outlaps and first couple laps, I'm amazed Ferrari even finished the race and how how well up the order they did it. They needed that boost. Overall the weekend did not disappoint.
