Default FS 17 mm REAR Sway Bar for Impreza

Before I put this on the For Sale Forum, I thought I would offer it locally.

$40. 17mm Sway bar with rubber bushings from my WRX wagon.

As I understand it, this should fit most (all?) Imprezas. I have also read that 17mm is the largest size you should use without also upgrading the hangers. It's a fairly easy bolt on process to install.

I'm located in Kirkland. I'm willing to deliver anywhere from South Center to Lynnwood, east to North Bend

from spomotorsports: ". Our research also unveiled to us not use stock mounting hard ware with 19mm or larger sway bar, for the mounting hardware was designed for a 13mm sway bar not a 18mm or larger bar. "

is this a front or rear sway bar? I may be interested depending on a few things.
1. The size of the stock 02 RS sway bar (rear).
2. If it is the rear sway bar.
3. And if it fits my car (I'd guess it would, but if anyone could confirm this, it would be greatly appreciated).

Default Stock swaybar on 2002 2.5RS

I'm 99.9% certain that the stock rear swaybar on a 2002 2.5RS is 17mm.

Sorry about that, it's the rear bar.

I need to confirm the size of the rear bar on my car. I've heard 13mm and 17mm, if it's 13mm then I'm definately interested.

I guess I shouldn't believe everything I read... there was a post in this thread that said it was 17mm... though since I've found posts confirming that it's 13mm. Guess I should double-check next time before I chime in!

I thought they'd have given the RS at least a 17mm sway bar this year (up from the previous 13mm) since it has "sport-tuned suspension" according to Subaru.

Thumbs up

Oh well, at least the WRX owners who upgrade will have someone to sell to I cant believe the difference between my stock 13mm bar and the 20 I put on. I think it weighs twice as much.

Default Another 17mm rear sway 4sale

I wanted to give fellow NW i-clubbers notice first...

I'm selling my 17mm rear sway for $40 as well. I live in the Greenwood/Phinney area of Seattle. I'd be willing to deliver anywhere between Everett and Shelton if need be (any excuse to drive my WRX). PM me if interested.

I also measured my bar and came up with 13mm. Now the economics. It appears the supply is larger than the demand, any sorta discounts? haha. Actually $40 is a good deal, so whoever wants to sell let me know. Just in case it doesn't fit my car, I'd like some sort of "return policy". Sound reasonable?

-Matt

p.s. As far as weight of different sized bars goes, if my math is correct an 18mm bar should weigh clost to twice that as a 13mm bar. A 17mm bar should be about 1.75 times that of a 13mm bar and a 20mm bar should be about 2.33 times that of a 13mm bar.

I would be happy to offer your money back if it doesn't fit.
