How to change ATF????
Hi there. I am looking for instructions on to change ATF for 2000 Legacy GT. I can't seem to find any info on that. I did a search before and found out that if you just drain it, 1/2 fluid gets trapped in the system, so you only changing 1/2. It's still probably good. Anyways, lets get back to real answer??? Anyone has instructions???? Thanks????

there is a drain pan similar to an oil pan underneath the car a bit further back than the oil pan. You can drain that and i think get 4 or 5 quarts out of that because there is still fluid in the tranny and torque converter. You refill it from the tranny oil dipstick thing. You just hook up a funnel to it and pour the amount that you took out you dont want to over fill it.

RE: Tranny fluid swap
I think he may be looking for a step-by-step on changing all fluid and replacing the filter... I was curious about this too. Anyone know of a good site with instructions? I've done the drain and refill, but I think at 110K my baby needs the whole thing done...
Thanks -Aaron |

According to Pitre subaru here in az the trans oil filter is a lifetime part . as far as a drain and fill just drop it with the drain plug . dump in 1.5 qts start , idle in park , check dipstick , if at least full to cold mark , run through gears , check again . then all done . repeat in 15000 to really clean out .

Oh, yeah... standard refill with fluid and filter change is about 4 qts.
