2001 GC8 JDM EJ207 v7 Swap checklist
Hey guys, I’m making a checklist for my swap and I just wanted a few opinions on my list just to make sure Im not missing anything. The swap im doing is a JDM EJ207 Ver 7 into a USDM 2001 gc8 (gm6 coupe) 2.5rs. I would like to use the USDM 2011 STI Transmission but not an entire driveline sti swap. I would like to retain as much of the standard parts as possible and later on if need be I can do the rest of the STI swap. So here goes the list…
2001 2.5rs (blown motor) JDM Ver7 ej207 (with the obvious parts, TMIC, turbo, wiring harness, exhaust mani, intake mani, ect.) JDM ej207 ECU (reflash for poopy Cali fuel) Full Exhaust Fuel Pump Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump Controller??? Recommendations? 2011 USDM STI tranny VSS Pro for speedometer conversion USDM STI flywheel & clutch WRX intake and MAF USDM BCS WRX/STI Starter Late 2004-2007 WRX front axles 2006 WRX front cross brace (fits 2.5rs arms with no shimming) 2006 WRX front swaybar STI center driveshaft Transmission cross braces WRX R160 Rear diff w/ LSD (use stock 2.5rs axles) STI Brembo Brakes with 5x100 Rotors Misc radiator/ heater core hoses Here is where I am stumped… do I have to switch to a wrx steering rack also? Or can I retain my 2.5rs one since im keeping the 2.5rs hubs and control arms. That being said ill probably use the v7 PS pump and solve that issue of fitment if any of the hardlines don’t match up when I get there. Also I would like to use the 2.5rs AC pump instead so I don’t have to breach the AC system but if im forced to use the v7 pump and splice it for the 2 wire setup I will. Lastly am I missing anything major, anything obvious that I’m just having a brain fart over? Besides more time, money, and sacrifices to the Subaru gods? Thanks in advance! When the time comes I’ll be taking tons of photos to make a writeup and build thread.

seems you did your homework. looks like a solid list
my only suggestion would be a new sti rack. they are 13:1 like the old RA quick racks. |

Do you have to buy a new steering rack or can you use the original 2.5rs one? The sti one sounds nice, when I drive my 13 WRX vs my RS I love the steering of the WRX.

Any issues with running 2004 STI Front axles, that's what I thought would work from researching? I bought a JDM 2.0 swapped 2.5rs and need to replace the front passenger axle.. Thanks in advance!
