Arrogance doesn't get you anything either bud.

Also If you been on this thread for a couple years you should have found a source to do it already
Or taught yourself.

Email him if you have an issue. Or call and sort it out. Maybe you came the first to get your clover design CnC'd

It's not arrogance, I prefer the terms being blunt, truthful, direct. I don't like beating around the bush for answers, especially from vendors. It's their job to know what they're selling, especially when they are the ones claiming a benefit.

I just stated my heads are almost done, and hope to be getting the cnc work done shortly. The fact I asked about it two years ago shows I was researching and weighing options rather than jumping on the bandwagon. My car has been running the ej20k for two years with no problems and the ej257 block with forged goodies is just another step.

This thread is a public venue that allows us to voice opinions and get truthful answers, prevents (most of the time) members or vendors giving false information and sometimes improves their credibility. There is no reason to take issues to pm, especially when others may have a vested interest in the subject. This is part of the purpose of a public forum. Pm's are for individual transactions that don't concern anyone else.

Oh, and I'm not your "bud" guy :P

2slofouru, you need to stop posting in this thread. There are lot of people subscribed to it and you're just hijacking it with your bs. If you've got further questions or issues with Ed, a reputable vendor, take it up with him directly. Im sure he'll address all your concerns. We don't need to hear anymore about it.

I'll stop asking once a legitimate answer to my question is posted publicly. I don't have a beef with Ed or EQ tuning, just would be nice if they would be more knowledgeable on the service and do more than just bump the thread solely for advertising.

I am one of the "lot of people" subscribed to this thread. Posting here is direct, I'm not going to take questions to pm's that could help others (echo, echo, echo. wait...didn't I just post this?)

Obviously he hasn't or I wouldn't have replied. If you don't "need to hear about it" then just put me on your ignore list or don't read my posts and / or reply. I'm not asking everyone on nasioc, I'm only asking Ed.

I'm sorry you were not satisfied with my response, but I think it was very clear and honest. I've never attempted this on the clover style chambers and know that the current program would likely not work without significant modification. I've had maybe 2-3 requests for clover style heads over the last few years so its not really worth the time investment to develop a new program. I would also need a pair of test heads which is another expense. It's just not something that we looked into much at all because there is not a lot of demand for it. As stated, there are other vendors who can do something similar by hand for you so that's probably your best bet.

Hopefully that answer satisfies your inquiry better.

Thanks

Yes, the price went up to $450 for the service. At the original price, the very small profit we made off the service was not worth the processing time and liability of handling so many heads.

Thanks

Ed is way to nice Pretty sure my answer would have been!

I have a buddy who may need this service in the future...if he doesn't go the cheap (stupid) route. I will be sure to pass on the pricing.

Sounds like a very fair price for the quality work your doing . One more question for my hybrid build I have a goal of 350-380 whp..would you recommend getting a built block or would a brand new factory SB would be sufficient ? I'm leaning more towards reliability.

I never recommend a factory EJ25 for any power level. You're basically just rolling the dice with the stock pistons.

So its a combination of not enough demand and you knowing the program would not work without signifigant modification. Fair enough and thanks for the reply.

I found a shop that says their cnc program will also work with the clover heads I will take before and after pics if all goes well, if you're curious.

While some people have had luck with drop in pistons, it's not something I ever recommend doing. The stock bores can be pretty inconsistent from the factory, so you're taking a risk by just dropping in a forged piston.

So, if using pistons designed for a hybrid, you recommend a slight overbore just to clean up a new shortblock?

Yep. To clean it up and to match is perfectly to the pistons. We will often even do a line bore on a new block because the stock main clearances can be all over the place.

Thanks Ed for sharing you knowledge I really appreciate it. Would you just recommend the next bore size over, would that be enough.

You can usually get away with a 99.75mm bore if the block is in good shape, but the older ones usually need to go out to 100mm.
