Some cops have told me that they sometimes just stand there and point the radar out in an obvious manner so that people slow down. He admitted that his buddy did it with a hair dryer for laughs and people slowed down.

I guess this is what OT is for, is to start heated arguement? Actually now a days, since I don't speed at all anymore, I LOVE it when cops point their radar gun at me, I love to disappoint them. I got my fair share of speeding ticket a while back, now is my turn to stick it to them A few weeks ago my wife called me to alert me of a speed trap near my house, I rush home wanting to disappoint the officer by going the speed limit. But by the time I got there, he left already.....damn |

That could be a reason why my detector didn't go off. I didn't rule that out.

Around here, police parks an empty squad car semi-hidden..By the time you realize, there's no one in the car, you have already slowed down below the speed limit...Works like a charm.

A few weeks ago I saw a speed trap on the opposite side of the street, that section of the road got a 25 mph limit, that street is wide open, the oldest guy on a wheel chair would be coasting at 40........ he was writing a ticket to a minivan when I saw him.
So on my way back, I coast at 24 mph in my STi, his radar gun was pointed at me the ENTIRE time from 1/8 mile away, I was the only car on the road. The light turn red and I stopped right next to him, I waved at him, smile and said "How are you doing?". He didn't say anything and got a stern look on his face (he had an open face helmet on and I was 5 feet away from him) STICKING IT........I love it, it made my day! well the good news is that radar guns with POP are expensive and not widely used in the US

FYI...I had a 3 year old V1 that didn't seem to work as well one day even though I bought it new. I thought the same as you with POP. So, I went to the V1 site and checked my serial number and there was an update for POP. I sent it in and paid the money to have it updated (BTW, I do travel above the posted speed limit but only by 5 mph now with flow of traffic, just not worth it anymore). Got it back and it was very different. And although I thought the troopers here switched to POP, I found that my fixed V1 does not register as troopers with POP. It seems as my V1 stopped working properly but it was fixed when it got sent in for the update.

^^^ so you are saying the update made it work better? But still don't detect POP?
How do you know they are using POP? |

No...I guess it was a little confusing of what I was getting at. I believe my V1 was not functioning correctly but I was not aware. I sent it in for the update and it was probably thoroughly tested and possibly repaired with the update before it was sent back to me. I do not believe the troopers are using POP in my area as I straight up asked one who is a friend and he told me no (of course, he may not be able to tell me). I was thinking the updated V1 had a display that showed POP but I just confirmed that was wrong according to the manual.
Short story on this is...I really do not know what fixed the V1 but it is now working after the update. I suspect it was not functioning properly before sending it in. It did detect Sheriff radar before being updated. |

That's when you pull over, put a scarf over your face (incase cameras), drop a deuce on the drivers seat and key the side of the car
