What about for a 2008 - 09 Legacy GT (spec.B) will the brackets work? Also, rear disc with the drum did they change this over to 190mm or is it 170mm for the rear parking drum?

I think I will pull them off to be certain.

05-09 Legacy uses the older version 1 bracket that we are currently out of stock on but taking reservations. 05-09 Legacy also has the older 170mm drum.

Drums didn't change on the Legacy until 10+.

So you would need our version 1 bracket, DBA converstion rotor OR oversized brake shoes for a legacy

Get it?

I get it, thanks.

Does the version 1 bracket only fit 05-09 Legacy, or is this for other MY Imprezas to allow the rear 2 pot Brembo?

version 1 fits up to the 09 legacy, up to the 07 wrx, and up to the 08 forrester.

Not sure if that answered your questions?

I just sent an email for quote on rear brake upgrades.

Also, does the V1 rear brackets allow the FHI rear calipers to mount as well, or just the rear 2 pot Brembo?

Got it, no the V1 bracket does not allow the FHI calipers to mount.

KNS,

i see the pics you have from test fitment of this bracket are on an STI rear knuckle. i am planning to install the FHI 2-pots in the rear soon, on my 2010 WRX.

so for that i would need:
this bracket + hardware
10+ LGT rear rotors

will the dust sheild have to be trimmed/removed? obviously this isnt necessary on the STI

Yes you will need our V2 bracket which we have in stock with its hardware, and you will need the 10+ rear rotor, which we also have in stock.

Most likely not you won't have to trim the dust shield.

Just an FYI, the 08+ STi rear calipers use a different bolt than recommended. The part number suggested are too short and have a different thread pitch.

Thank you for posting your install notes.

I'm about to start gathering parts for this.

Please clarify:

How do the 2008+ STI Brembos mount on the WRX hub? Are there brackets and does it fit?

Do I reuse all the STI caliper bolts on the WRX hub?

What size are the rotors?

Instead of triming the rear dust shield, would STI dust shield work on the WRX?

When removing the brake lines to swap to SS lines, how do you prevent the fluid from coming out?

What do you mean by "The bend on the (rear) caliper side is different." If I ordered STI SS lines front and rear, would that work out fine?

Didn't you need a big brake adapter for the rear?

The 2008+ STi Brembo calipers are a direct bolt on to the 2008+ WRX hubs. You use the STi bolts because the calipers have a different thread pattern. The hubs are smooth bore, so the bolts just slide through the hub and thread into the caliper.

When changing lines, even just changing the calipers, you can't stop the fluid from coming out. You just have to bleed the brakes after installing the calipers and/or lines.

The rear dust shields on the WRX are too small in diameter, and they will touch the STi rear rotor. You either have to bend it out of the way or remove it completely. It is spot welded on there. If you're going to replace it with an STi rear dust shield, you'd either have to spot weld it on, glue it, or rivet it on. I'm not sure if you can just buy the rear dust shields.

No, the 08+ rear STi Brembo bolts perfectly to the 08+ WRX hub.

This was answered 3 times in posts above you.

For anyone else who can't scroll up or a page back.

You have to bend the shield back or remove the dust shield. It is spot welded to the hub. You can achieve this by drilling the spot welds or bending it back and forth until the welds release... This is YOUR choice.

It is doubtful that you can reweld the shield back on.

I'm looking into this and trying to get my hands on an 08+ set of Sti Brembo's for my 2010 WRX. I'm running Work Kiwami's 18x8.5 +47 and was wondering if anyone knew if they would clear for sure or not. Also will a 3mm spacer in the front allow me to clear on stock rims like the 2011's from my understanding or would I have to run larger spacers.

I put a set of goldies on my '08 WRX yesterday, front and back.

Went with KNS rotors, Hawk5.0 pads, & Goodrich lines.

Everything bolted right up no problem.

I "thought" the wrx brakes were good enough.

I'm going to need stickier tires...

Feedback on the Hawk 5.0 pads would be fantastic, glad we were able to help.

I about gave myself whiplash when I was backing out of the garage & tapped the brakes for the first time.

Huge difference with the new setup vs stock. Much less pedal force & travel required.

I've only had the stock pads on this wrx.

Took it out to a deserted road last night and did the bed in of 7 medium stops, from highway speed, drove another 10 mins, did another 7 medium stops, then did 6 hard stops just at abs activation.

Initial bite feels good, it's not to grabby, but add a little more pedal force they really bite in and hold.

I drove from Denver, up to my place in the mountains. (I'm at 9200')

There are two long downhill sections, like 10-15 minute long. With the stock setup I was really careful not to heat the brakes to much, and still I managed to warp a rotor.

I tested these out much more than I normally would. I couldn't really tell a difference between cold(it was about 50deg outside), or when I had really put some heat into them.

No shudder or squeaking from the pads(so far), and I left the shims out of the front.

I really like them.

Great service from the guys at KNS too-thanks for sending them out so fast.

Big thanks for writing this guide

I searched the UK and spoke with our biggest aftermarket brake specialist but due to lack of interest in the WRX narrowbodies in England nobody could help.

Anyway i found your guide bought the bits and fitted them yesterday no problems at all, i am currently bedding in the discs and pads for the manufacturer's recommended 300 miles, but they feel better already even under light braking.
