Opinion: Stromung is good. Nice quality. Deep tone. But very heavy.
I'm researching for the GReddy EVO and STi Rear muffler section that see either one can put on our MY02 RS. Still waiting those replies... |

Just got my stainless steel stromung catback installed today.
Sounds awesome. First half an hour gave me a headache. Now I smile everytime I hit the gas. Coupled with a ganzflow intake and amsoil filter, the stromung catback helps the engine pull faster, noticable so. At first I thought that the sound was a bit loud. After a few hours, I got used to it and it sounds just a bit louder than stock. The stainless steel construction is monstrous, really good quality. The alternative was the full brullen exhaust system. I think the stromung sounds equivalent to the brullen medium setup. |

SS=Rust?? Where? Is this just in areas where they salt the roads? How long before it rusts? Seems like most anything will rust with that salt on it for numerous winters.

jamest46 - here's a link to some pics of the Brullen dual 3" tip cat-back on a fellow i-Clubber's '02RS. Definately an option to consider.

I have the duel tip with midpipe, high flow cat and borla headers.
So far I have found that my car is alot louder than all the other subies I've seen. But everyone loves the sound Had it for about 3 month now and haven't had any issues with rust or anything. *shrugs* I'll never look at another setup |

You realize that rusted stromung in the link is a mild steel exhaust. |

Yup, my SS exhaust rusts like crazy. I am in CT where they do salt, but nowhere nearly as bad as they do further north. Just light salt I guess. We had very little snow this year, and only a few days where they had to salt. There is still a bit of surface rust. I don't think that Strumung uses a very good grade of SS. I think that 304 is the stuff that doesn't rust. It isn't so bad, I just take some polish to it every spring. The "can" is decent, but the welds and the pipe are covered in a light surface rust. I am the guy who is out washing his car once a week no matter how bad the weather is. I always pay very close attention to the underside of my car when washing.
