Question

I also have this random misfire issue in my '13 wrx. For me it happens every 400-2000 miles or so, and it's the same random misfire in different cylinders.

Soldered all the contacts in the marked areas just to be sure. There was this guppy black sticky crap that someone stupidly put in there, some kind of sealant. It was all around the wires and even looked to be possibly breaking contact inside the crimps. I cleaned them and soldered the wires correctly, sealed them too.

After about 1200 miles, sure enough the check engine light popped on, with slightly rough idle, same code.

I did a leak down test, then a compression test, which both seemed to be normal, with compression being even throughout the 4 cylinders.

Any ideas?

just got the same code today P0300/PFFFE

I was on the way to work and at the stop light, the CEL, Crusie, and Traction Control lights all go up at the same time. The car drove fine to work, no misfire, no sluggish acceleration, nothing.

I've had the car since 2013 and i am the first and only owner of this car. I guess I'll pull the wiring harness this weekend and check out the soldering. Car is at 75k now and have done every service except the 75k service because it just turn 75k this past weekend. I was planning to take it in this labor day weekend for the 75k service but i guess now its going to end up being more than the 75k service

Default 2013 WRX 53k P0300

2013 WRX 53k I ran into P0300 CEL along with cruise light. I purchased revised harness and installed. Code came back within 100 miles. Car is running perfectly fine. Subaru of America will not give me any resources on this issue. Not sure what to do. Intake appears happy and tight (Cobb short)

So like I said, I had found 2 bad ground wires. Both corroded and frayed. I replaced them, Cleared codes and its been a long time since the cell has been on for random misfires. So check all your ground wires.

Been over a year since my wiggling and massaging of that area of the harness. Misfires haven't come back.

It stopped doing it for awhile until this past Saturday when the engine light came on for a P0300. I cleared the code since the dealer was closed and drove. I ran the tank down low thinking it may have been a bad mix of gas. I filled up yesterday and the car felt fine. Consisten WOT pulls and everything. Until today..I get out of class, start my car and it is idling crappy as hell. Then as I'm pulling out, the engine light comes on. I thought perfect. So I went to the Subie dealership and let them check it out for the second time for this issue.

Tech scanned it and the miss was jumping between all 4 cylinders!! Weird huh?

So he comes out and talks to me for a bit. He mentions that there is a ground wire that splits into 4 separate wires and there has been issues of the connection coming loose. I thought, well, an electrical issue would make sense since it doesn't do it all the time. He peeled back the wrapping and dropped some solder on the connection and what do you know...The miss is gone and it is smooth as hell.

Just wanted to share this with anyone who may have the same odd miss issue with their 08+ WRX or STi.
Was this only after fueling? I am having a similar issue.

Default 13 Wrx Cel

This car has been nothing but nightmares! My car has 77k miles and about 70K+ of them are highway miles commuting for work. Iíve babied this car and Iím the original owner. About a year ago I got the random misfire cel, I tried the harness trick plus a full tune up and it worked for about 4 months and then the cel kept on coming back every other trip to work (80 miles round trip) or so. I finally got around to doing a compression test and cylinder 4 was very low. Long story short- I pulled the motor and also did a leak down test and every cylinder was below the safe range. All the valves were covered in carbon buildup and I sprayed some soapy water in the head and the valves werenít sealing.. I found a few valve guides that were slightly dropped, but the heads it self wasnít damaged.. I got both heads done and did a leak down test when it was all back together, I also changed every gasket and it was good to go! Motors back in the car, and boom! CEL! Same ones as before plus an oxygen sensor cel(maybe it was sitting out to long).. I did all new coils, up graded all the grounds(battery, trans, under the motor, driver side fuel bracket ground is new with the new harness) oxygen sensor, injectors, and just installed the upgraded harness. I went back and did the compression test and it came out good.. idle is a little rough, the car sometimes wants to shut off when I come to a stop(after a while it fixes it self) maybe this is the Ecu relearning after I keep removing the battery. I removed the TGVs while the motor was out of the car not sure if the butterfly plate needs to be clocked in a certain position before installing the TGV solenoids(canít find an answer besides deleting them)
CELs that keep popping up
P0300- random misfire
P0304 cly 4 misfire
P0031 bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen- this was just changed. I opened the ECU to make sure itís not damaged. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciate! Thanks!

Just took the car for a drive and now Cyl 4 misfire is gone but I have a cyl 1 misfire.. and the car is breaking up above 4k RPM

You do need to clock the TVG motors 90deg before installing them, but you'll throw a TGV CEL if you do that incorrectly.

There's a spring in there that needs to be preloaded via the clocking procedure.

I donít have any cels for that.. but could that cause any of the issues I currently have?

If you don't have tgv cels, it's likely not your tgvs. I'd pressure test the manifold, check the gap on all of your plugs, and go from there.

As an update from my reply from soldering all those ground wires, I still have this CEL come up every 200-1000 miles or so. I've been passing inspection by unplugging the battery (resetting the ECU) and driving it about 200 miles before I go get it inspected. Seems to pass that.

I'm going to be bringing my car to Bren Tuning soon(going from stock to Stage 3), will have them check it out too. Leaving it to the pros. I'll reply back once I hear from them what's up with that.

How are all of your ground wires? I had to change all mine and it solved the issue. They were rusted and corroded

Default Cylinder roughness 0-100

Iíve had a major cylinder roughness problem. (NO CEL). My car cycles through cylinder roughness in cylinder one 0-100 constantly. Once I let off throttle it stays at whatever number I was at and once Iím back on throttle it starts cycling again. Swapped injectors around, swapped coilpacks and spark plugs, compression test came back solid. I have no Feedback Knock or Fine Knock. Thought maybe it was the immobilizer in the ignition bc the car will start and die as soon as the SECURITY LIGHT TURNS ON. Subaru dealership replaced ignition and got me a new key but theyíre saying itís still dying when the light comes on. Iím stumped. I canít find anything on any forum anywhere. Again, I havenít thrown a single Check engine light but the car is VERY choppy at idle and feels scary rough when being driven. The whole car shakes so I know itís not firing on cylinder 1. Any help or any way someone could point me in the right direction, Iíd appreciate it very much.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I have a 2013 wrx with the P0300 code. I have replaced the following:

wiring harness
4 coil packs
3 new grounding straps
spark plugs 3 times
crankshaft position sensor
passenger side camshaft position sensor
coolant temp sensor

Brought it to a shop and they tested the fuel pressure and checked the intake for leaks.
I performed a compression test which checked out fine.

If anyone has resolved their issues beyond what I have replaced please let us all know. Thanks.
