Default VW Tiguan Coupe, Arteon Shooting Brake Coming?

Quote:
Quote:
GermanThe exhaust gas scandal has a fundamental impact on the VW brand, which is also reflected in the product portfolio. In addition to the conventional models such as the VW T-Cross or the new VW Golf 8 Volkswagen puts on a whole armada of electric models. Group-wide there will be 70 electric cars in the next ten years.

The pure electric models on the MEB kit will go for customers with a range of between 400 and 650 kilometers and a new look. They are based on the successful "burner" models. This is the VW ID. Neo the Golf, The ID. Crozz is the e-version of the Tiguan Coupe and the ID. Aero will come as an electric Passat in sedans and Variant form. Here are the most important in short letters.

VW Tiguan Coupe after the Tiguan facelift

Volkswagen extends the Tiguan series and missed the compact SUV after the facelift for the "normal" Tiguan 2019 a coupe version. This is based on the Modular Transverse Toolbox (MQB).

Compared to the Tiguan Coupe comes with a modified rear end and far into the tailgate reaching narrow lights. Numerous chrome finish is to give the SUV coupe a nobler appearance.

The Tiguan Coupé is also positioned higher on the engines. Only the top engines from the Tiguan work here. There is the 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel with 240 hp and the 220-hp 2.0-liter TSI. Both are paired with a 7-speed DSG. The digital cockpit and various assistance systems on board are also standard equipment. We estimate that the coupe from 42,000 euros for the gasoline and 45,000 euros for the diesel 2020 will roll to the dealers.

With the 2019 model change, the new Golf will be visually more different from its predecessor, as was the case last. The designers want to achieve this with altered proportions (wider and flatter) and more distinctive details.

The new VW Golf 8: For him VW invests 1.8 billion euros. In addition to the I.D. family, the new Golf generation is the most important series of the Wolfsburg.
With model generation eight VW also wants to reduce the vehicle weight again by about 50 kilograms. Even the currently introduced in the Polo three-cylinder TDI should be ripe for the VW Golf until then. Further potential is offered by the cylinder deactivation ACT, which was previously only used in the 1.4 TSI, and above all by the alternative drives mentioned above.

They can make the biggest contribution to CO2 reduction. From 2020, VW will shoot the Golf GTI and the Golf 8 Estate. This is flatter and lifestyliger from, the trunk volume is lower.
Volkswagen Group will launch a number of very important models from most of its brands this year. Some of them include the new Golf, a Cayenne Coupe, and a new Flying Spur, but there are also big premieres coming from Skoda and SEAT. The manufacturer’s core brand, Volkswagen, also has interesting new models in the pipeline and these could include a Tiguan Coupe and an Arteon Shooting Brake.

The information is not officially confirmed by the automaker yet, but a new report from Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport claims we will see both new derivatives early next year. The Tiguan Coupe should arrive shortly after the facelift of VW’s popular compact SUV with a sloped roofline and more chrome accents for the exterior.

Interestingly, AMS also says it will be positioned a bit higher than the regular Tiguan in terms of available engines, which means only the range-topping units will be offered. Basically, you'll be able to buy it with the 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel with 240 horsepower (179 kilowatts) and the 220-hp (164-kW) 2.0-liter TSI gas unit. Both are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

As far as the Arteon Shooting Brake is concerned, this one should follow the design philosophy of the Arteon sedan but offer more headroom for the rear passengers and significantly more boot volume. In order to make it a bit more special and upscale than the regular Arteon, AMS claims, Volkswagen is discussing a new VR6 powertrain for the stylish wagon with up to 400 hp (298 kW). Executives haven’t given the project the green light for production yet and we expect to hear more about it in the next few months.

As a final note, the German publication briefly mentions a Tiguan R and Arteon R are also in the works for a 2020 launch.

I typically don’t like the doggy hump style, but if this came with rear facing third row jump seats and Golf R power, it would be a compelling product. Unfortunately though the price it would command to even justify it on these shores would tickle Audi prices. Not many willing to drop $60k for a near mid size veedubb.

Yeah... I'd kind of doubt that VWoA would bring it here... Too much overlap with Audi for corporate america. Which is sad, but probably the reality.

Default VW Shooting Brake Announced, Is It Based On The Arteon?

Quote:

The wagon will be built in Germany at the Emden plant.

Rumors of an Arteon Shooting Brake have been swirling around the Internet since the end of 2016, and now Volkswagen might have finally confirmed the model’s existence. In a German-only press release talking about the future of the Emden plant, VW talks about its plans to retool the factory and get it ready for the MEB-based electric vehicles scheduled to enter production towards the end of 2021. Meanwhile, assembly of the Passat Sedan, Passat Variant, Passat Alltrack, and the Arteon will continue.

Some of the buildings at the factory located to the west of Bremen will be expanded while others will be built from scratch, with VW saying the Passat versions, the sleeker Arteon, and the mysterious shooting brake will be built in the old halls for several years.

As you may recall, the VW Group has already announced plans to relocate production of the Passat family to the Czech Republic at Skoda’s Kvasiny factory where the midsize model will be built alongside the heavily related Superb from 2023. The disclosure was made back in November last year and it practically revealed the start of production for the next-gen Passat.

Until then, the current and recently facelifted Euro-spec Passat will be built at home in Germany alongside the cooler Arteon, which seems it’ll spawn a more practical derivative. It likely won’t be a true shooting brake since we’re expecting the long-roof Arteon to have rear doors. Another previous report about the car said something about a newly developed turbocharged six-cylinder gasoline engine, which would obviously have more punch than the top-spec four-banger and its 276 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque.

Volkswagen Arteon R: 2020 hot saloon will be joined by Shooting Brake

329bhp Arteon R saloon is due this year as part of model year this updates, and with a Shooting Brake estate to follow in 2021

While plans develop for hot new versions of Volkswagen’s electric-powered ID models, the company’s R division is expanding into a new niche for its combustion-engined cars.

Having recently added the 296bhp T-Roc R to its ranks, Volkswagen’s performance division has now turned its attention to the Arteon line-up. A new 329bhp range-topping Arteon R saloon will arrive during the final quarter of 2020 as part of the range’s mid-life facelift, and it's already been spotted out testing with the usual R design cues such as quad tailpipes and blue brake callipers.

Following the hot version of the Arteon saloon, Volkswagen R plans to unleash a similarly powered version of the upcoming Arteon Shooting Brake in the first half of 2021.

The coupé-cum-estate, which will be launched in standard form first at the start of the year, has the distinction of being among the last all-new combustion-engined models developed by Volkswagen.

In a bid for added practicality and greater load space, the Arteon Shooting Brake adopts a longer roof and sloping tailgate. The result gives it what Volkswagen insiders describe as “estate-like qualities while retaining its characteristic styling”.

Power for the new Arteon R is due to come from the same version of Volkswagen’s turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that is earmarked for the new Golf R, which is also set to be launched during the second half of 2020.

According to details revealed at a recent Volkswagen dealer presentation in Germany, the four-cylinder petrol unit is claimed to develop up to 325bhp and 332lb ft of torque. It sends its drive through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a four-wheel drive system that, Autocar understands, has been reworked to provide a more rearward apportioning of drive.

By comparison, the most powerful of today’s Arteon models, the 2.0 TSI, offers 187bhp and 236lb ft.

A new Touareg R is also due to arrive in 2020. It receives a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid driveline similar to that used by the Porsche Cayenne S-Hybrid, with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine and gearbox-mounted electric motor providing around 450bhp

ugly and a compromised cargo area? good work VW, good work.... Because people buy wagons for style, not cargo capacity, right?

pretty clear that the front bumper is covered in vinyl, just like all of the other VW prototypes seen recently. That is not the way the car will look.

I think the black car is pretty good looking.

0% chance we see the brakeback and the Arteon is a lame product here. Surprised it isn't gone from the US already.

The Arteon is a compelling option to the Legacy XT as long as you stay out of the R-Line models. Those are too pricey.

The Passat is what doesn't make much sense in their lineup. Really, they could offer a lower powered engine in the Arteon and get rid of the Passat.

The Arteon lives in a weird world. It's a premium level car from a non-premium brand. It's target competitors are things like the A5 and 4 series. It's attempting to bring people from lesser cars like the accord, camry, and legacy, and bring them into the German luxury world. Honestly, I'm convinced that VW and Audi both want it here even though it doesn't sell well. It's a gateway car...

The Arteon was outsold by a third by the Supra in Q4 of 2019. That's a failed product.

It's a failed product in the US. But there's still a reason for them to make it. They still probably turn a small profit on it. It's like the Touareg, which we obviously don't get now because of the Atlas. But there's now a 456hp Touareg R that we can only look at in pictures...

German design language/philosophy just hasn't appealed to me in what, at least a decade? when did the melty jelly bean thing start anyways?

I'm not giving anyone a pass; ever since the "CUV all the things" craze started, pickings have been slim, but it's like they aren't even trying anymore, or they are trying way too hard; either way, they aren't applying the correct amount of effort.

If you're going to do a shooting brake/wagon a certain amount of squareness is expected & appreciated, you know, for cargo volume. You don't have to design it with a ruler, but for the love of GOD, use more than just a french curve.

I'm normally a huge fan of wagons and shooting brakes, but that one looks a big wonky. However, that's not a very good photo as the lighting make the front look shorter. I'd like to see some better pictures of it.

Well probably didnt help that deliveries were delayed for almost a year. If they added a 6 cylinder, put out more mid trim models (not everyone wants either the base or highest trim), and fix the rear windows design to allow the windows the go all the way down i would be tempted.

Default VW Golf R And Arteon R Scooped Up Close In Switzerland

Quote:
handful of hot Volkswagen models were recently spied in the parking lot of a St. Moritz hotel, including numerous Mk8 Golf R prototypes and a tester for the long-awaited Arteon R.

The following clip, filmed by YouTuber TheTFJJ, initially showcases a Mk8 VW Golf GTI prototype before another stealthy Golf rolls into the parking lot. This particular test mule features the bodywork of the Mk7 model, but the interior and quad tailpipes reveal the car’s true identity.

Later in the video, another Mk8 VW Golf R prototype is spotted. This time, however, the test vehicle features the bodywork of the latest-generation Golf and looks more like the production-spec model. The prototype also sports a new front fascia with an enlarged grille and air intakes similar to the new GTI. Curiously, the car also sports the blue front grille accent you’d ordinarily expect to find on a Golf GTE not an R model.

Also featured briefly in the clip is what looks to be a prototype for the forthcoming VW Arteon R. This vehicle has been talked about for a long time and has been previously spied during testing. It’s worth pointing out that the prototype in question does feature an R-Line badge on the front grille so it remains to be seen if it’s actually a true Arteon R tester.

Either way, opinions are split regarding the Arteon R’s powertrain. While some sources claim it will feature the marque’s new 3.0-liter VR6 twin-turbocharged engine with roughly 400 hp, others bet on the 2.0-liter turbo-four which in the upcoming Golf R will deliver around 333 PS (329 HP).

Regardless of the engine VW will choose, expect an all-wheel drive system and a DSG transmission to come as standard.
