I tried the support chat in the settings and they had me do that and also uninstall updates from play store and chrome. Nothing worked. After 10 minutes I couldn't send them messages in chat anymore, error when I would click send. So I just synced my data and backup my Nova settings and factory reset this thing. It's a 6P, new exactly 1 year ago |

I would like to share that I got a Huawei Mate 9 and I really like it. Haven't had much time to really play with the Leica camera, but it seems really nice. The updated EMUI overlay is good as well. I read it used to be **** prior to the update, but it seems very minimal compared to LG and Samsung phones I've had.

So, my Nexus 5x started bootlooping. (just outside of warranty of course!) Nothing I've tried could revive it long enough to fix it. Freezing, etc.
I picked up an Motorola E4 Plus (with Amazon ads) as a quickly-delivered stopgap until I do some research and find a decent phone. I'm actually rather impressed. For the money, it's a surprisingly serviceable device. Camera is mediocre at best, but it's not laggy, screen (though 720p) is bright and clear, fingerprint reader is responsive, battery life is incredible. I don't think I'll keep it as a daily, but it shows me that even low end phones have gotten pretty decent. Not that the performance of the 5x was anything to brag about... |

Like you said camera is meh but works. Battery life with moderate use I can get just about a day out of it (6am-10pm). What I have found is that if I use my car charger (Anker Quick Charge 3.0 24W USB Car Charger) my phone will reboot randomly while it's charging. I think it's delivering too much power to it or something. I've been reading about the Moto G5S Plus ( https://www.motorola.com/us/products...pecial-edition ). Not sure it's worth it for me to upgrade to it. I do want to keep a 5.5" phone. Midrange phones are damn good these days, and low-end phones are pretty decent.
With the amount of phone you get for under $300 in something like the G5 Plus or under $400 in the X4, I don't see why anyone would drop $texas on a flagship, except for the hardcore mobile gamer (is that a thing?) or someone who absolutely must be on the bleeding edge of the spec sheet. |

Yep, I also used FiSwitch. Neither of which had any capacity to force it over to WiFi. There was also no ability to trigger either automatically say when my home network became available or through geofencing. I don't know what the particular problem is at my house. I know that it SAYS T-Mobile has the strongest signal. If you dig in though signal spy and check, it lists the carrier as "Unknown".

Having used it for almost a year now, for <$300, the Mi5 is a tremendous value! Shame Sony doesn't use Raw photos so the camera doesn't work on their phones. That would be the best possible for me; small phone with a great camera and good UI. Or for them to get their camera together, but that doesn't look likely. Still, if their next Compact is a new design, I'll consider actually ponying up $500 or so for it. Last edited by delongedoug; 10-02-2017 at 02:50 PM. |

It's Pixel day today. I'm fully expecting to be underwhelmed and have no desire to upgrade, in true Pixel tradition.

Anyone know of any mods that allow for placement of lockscreen shortcuts to launch select apps for Nougat OS phones?
This is a screencap from my OP3 still running M and using an Gravity Box mod. AFAIK the Xposed team has sti not cracked Nougat yet so Im looking for options on my OP3T which is running N |

They can keep their overpriced phones! Reading the history of the Nexus on Endgadget is depressing for the price points of the phones.

5.2" 1080P OLED? If it's not an RGB OLED it's going to look like ass.

I'm surprised Google didnt go crazy with pricing on these. Nothing on the hardware side that screams unique or must have. They did try really hard to sell the AR and Google Wife experience as selling point though
I closed the engadget feed, as I was just bored with it. |

If they make an XS, I'd consider it. Then see the price and tell them to **** off.
Out of nowhere, my Mi5 suddenly did not want to charge last night. I put it on the charger at 5% and woke up at 85%. Dafuq. It has quick charge and normally would take an hour or so to fully charge. I've been trying to pinpoint the problem by changing wall charger and cable but neither seemed to give me the speeds I expected. It says 'Quick Charging' on the lock screen but the time to charge is telling me otherwise. |
