I recently ordered a lip from Bayson-R since my other eBay brand cracked. Bayson-R must have upped their game. They come with installation hardware now, and feels more like a solid piece.

P.S. The cooling efficiency to my radiator is much better now. Seeing .0000001* temperature drops with the lip installed.

Dudebroman, relax for a moment...

Ok, calm now? Here's the deal: Scotty and his minions are right, the lip will increase MPG, downforce AND enhance looks, all at the same time. Win, win, win!

By "lowering" the bottom edge of the front bumper cover you also limit the volume of air sneaking under the front of the car.

If you think about what the bottom of the average car looks like, it is faaaar from smooth. Lots of suspension, engine, transmission bits hanging down to catch in the underbody airstream. The lip will reduce this effect, thereby increasing the ease with which your car cuts through the air, requirintvless HP to move the car at a given speed. The same effect can be accomplished to a lesser degree by simply lowering the car.

For the lip to provide an increase in downforce it needs to be more like a front splitter and needs to extend at least an inch past the forward most point on the nose of the car to provide the oncoming air a "step" to put it up and over the car, instead of under the car.

I know this is not true "data" as you requested, but I still have my areo design books from school and would be more than happy to dig that up for you.

i'm calm.

i still have my aero books, on my desk, at my office. which i'm sitting at.

you are correct about the way that it will cut through the air. HOWEVER, stating a 5% increase is kind of an exaggeration, especially with the different variable involved with driving and how that correlates to MPG. it does look better yes; does it create downforce, not as much as it would with a splitter; will it increase MPG, the difference is negligible and can be related to other driving characteristics. that's what i'm saying.

i understand aero, i work on windtunnel models all day long. i get it. however, there is no factual proof that a ebay lip (with no splitter or other aero) will net you 5% increase in MPG.

double you tee eff.

I might have to try this out for ****s and giggles. I log my mileage down to the penny. I'll find out if this is actually making a difference.

..and if not, it'll cover up the scratches and yellow paint from the previous owner parking over/on those parking curbs.

My hypothesis is that Uncle Scotty has his head up his ass Very scientific. But if you are correct sir, we all need to send you the money we save in gas from this.

btw, this is the one we're all discussing, correct? All the others appear to be roll up rubber stuff.

Nope, but this one is.

buy this lip because racecar

This whole thread was started for the 06 07 impreza style lip, and the fact that the seller (advanation) sends the lips out in a full size box, and not just folded to fit into whatever.

He also has lips for 02-03, 04-05, and 08+ models.

Very cool! Which lab do you work at? If I sent you a 1/10th scale model of a bugeye, could you sneak it into the tunnel and pull some data for the community?

22.0559 miles/gallon averaged over 14.885 gallons this tank.

Eh, i don't care if the lip is doing it or not. It looks nice, it was cheap, and catches frogs.

it is possible that fuel differences are more of a factor

but it sure does take a lot longer to slow down from 90mph than it did before

Mine just showed up like 10 minutes ago.

Perfect size box (could have used some packing material) overall decent finish.

I'd say its worth the 58 bucks I paid for it

Time to go wrestle my bumper off and put this thing on right.

Exactally. If I had a sedan front end it would have been perfect.

Also because it was done as a last minute thing at the end of a very long day

I'll snap a few more pics in the morning.

Does anyone know where I can get an eBay lip for the 2008 wrx. It seems like the lip only fits the sti model.
