![]() We had an SCCA Autocross school on Saturday 5/27/00 and races on 5/28/00 at PPIR for the Continential Divide Region 109.
The Subaru Performance Club of the Rockies (SPCR) met as a group for a "mass showing". We had 10 ImprezaRS's out there in a group of 169 cars! I did an article on both days at www.ImprezaRS.com in the subenews section (later to be moved to race.htm or something like that). I am convinced that I learned 10x more about driving fast safely there in two days, than in 20 years of fast driving on the street. Even my experience racing motorcycles was never a help in exploring the limits of my car and tires. You need to be in an environment where none of the street dangers is an impediment to testing your limits and sliding out - i.e losing things like street lamps and curbs, cars and pedestrians, and police... I hope to get some pictures up, after Brad developes them and sends a few to scan into my computer. Larry [This message has been edited by ImprezaRS dot com (edited May 29, 2000).]

![]() That means you got it. There is alot more to going fast than just mashing the gas pedal. Good luck, refine your driving on course, not on street. Take every opportunity to talk with the experienced (read-not just old) drivers about the courses, think about the lines and remember, autocross is not roadracing. The classic line is not allways the fastest. There is alot more acceleration available in first and second gears on an AX course than in third and fourth gears on a road course.
Two things to remember, never look back, allways look ahead. And the bonus advice of the day is, its better to loose 1/10 at the start of a corner than 5/10 at the exit. That means slow down. Eric Silver 99 RS |
